Hitchcock is pretty darned awesome, and M is one of my favorite Peter Lorre movies. Doesn't make my list, but he's still cool.

I'm mainly an action buff, just so you know...

Sweeney Todd (I have a love of musicals and a love of revenge, and this fills both needs)
Pan's Labyrinth
Kill Bill
Snatch
The Departed
Gladiator
^This is based off the stuff I watch more frequently.

Tsotsi
The Barbarian Invasions
The Edukators

Bad Boy Bubby
Project A
Legend of the Drunken Master
Mullholand Drive
Fargo
The Big Lebowski
Oh Brother Where Art Thou
Deer Hunter
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Raising Arizona
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

and if you're into asian cinema, for a decent (yet cheesy) comedy I recommend 'King of Beggars' or a great thriller 'The Audition'

And Carnilvale, yea it's a series but it's such a cinematic achievement I can't leave it out. Great viewing experience!

Hitchcock's Psycho, it's the only way to go. Even though Van Sant's was a shot for shot remake I just did not like it.

lol, most people I talk to don't know about Bicycle Thief. And I seem to be the only person in my family who adored the movie, the rest of my family seem to think of it as OK. You should also see Umberto D if you liked Bicycle Thief, and not just because I'm an elitist and it's on my favorites, heh. It's by the same director and it's in the same style, but not as good as Bicycle Thief, in my opinion.

I'll look for it. The ending to The Bicycle Theif is one of the most moving scenes ever put on film. It's great through out but the last couple of minutes where

makes it a masterpiece.

Wow, you guys saw that movie? Really? No one around where I live has ever heard of it. Our video rental store used to have a copy but I think they ditched it a few years ago, kind of sucks. But yeah, it's a really great movie, not one of my personal favorites but one that I'm trying to own.

@Moondrop:

I recently saw The Elephant Man for the first time and I loved it, it was the only David Lynch film that I had not managed to see. I was completley blown away by how well-done it was. It was definitely one of the easiest of Lynch's to understand and an altogether fantastic movie.

Also I noticed Solaris in your list and I have to agree. That movie is probably the buried treasure of Cameron's filmography because in my opinion it is hands down his best but everyone out there says that either Titanic or Avatar were his best. (Both of which I honestly can't stand.)

Yeah, it's a shame some Lynch fans don't like it because it isn't surreal, it's really high quality for what it is. I also dislike Titanic and Avatar, but I'm talking about the original 1972 version from Andrei Tarkvosky, I haven't seen Cameron's version, though I might look into it just to see how he did it.

Yeah I agree with you completely, it is a shame. I do think it is a masterpiece though and I think several people would agree.
