| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Pretty interesting alteration and use of the characters, in my opinion this first ova of two made the characters more in place than the actual movies. The characters especially C-ko with her childish behavior made more sense now that she is a child that combined that B-ko doesn't want to destroy A-ko all the time and in fact are partners/friends! The ending sure was a good cliffhanger for the second part so lets see what that has to offer! |

| Much more conventionally plotted than the four previous Project A-ko works; it sets up character motivations and long-term expectations with exposition. Expository dialogue isn't much fun but I appreciate the clarity and direction after all the meandering sloppiness of the previous works. This could easily have been a wholly original work rather than using the trio of central characters from the earlier works; not only are A-ko and B-ko friends here, but B-ko's personality is quite different and C-ko's shtick of seeming ten years too immature is done away with and she's a straightforward kid character. The gag that they don't have real names is also scuppered. |

| I'm way overdue finally watching this. So far I don't mind the change up in locale and general mood. It's actually quite refreshing for this new setup to have more genuine character motivations and background. Not too much to spoil the formula but just enough to make it an interesting swerve. I like the art, it's pretty on par with previous entries though a little cheaper looking I guess. I like A-Ko and B-Ko being partners, has proper Dirty Pair vibes. The ost isn't revolutionary but it fits the sci-fi style and I quite enjoyed it. I was genuinely sorry for A-Ko when she didn't get dinner lol The dragon god at the end was looks like a mix of Biolantte and King Ghidorah Overall this is a fun time and I hope episode 2 is just as good. |
