| So, Free! has gained a bit of popularity, mainly among the female anime watchers. Looking through youtube comments I constantly find things like "omg you call this gay but you dont say anything about ecchi and boobs omg double standards". I don't see how it is in anyway a double standard. The majority of people calling Free! gay are guys. They call it gay because it has fanservice for girls. I see nothing wrong with guys calling Free! gay, because, from their point of view it is gay (assuming they are straight). And, of course guys will not say anything bad about ecchi or yuri, simply because they are guys. If you disagree I want you to go outside, find a straight male, and show him a picture of titties, and ask him if he doesn't like them. Guys will be guys, and girls will be girls. Girls have every right not to like ecchi/yuri because it is tits and assfest. But that doesn't mean you can go crying double standards, when it makes perfect logical sense. Oh, and I'm a guy, and I actually enjoy Free!, despite the fanservice. |

| I agree with Itermin8rX. It's not about double standards that we're pissed off about, ti's the fact that they're unbelievably butthurt that KyoAni has not given them another ecchifest and instead tried something diferent, which is not an easy feat. Not to mention a few of these guys have been v-e-r-y adamant in saying that all women (not just fujoshi, but women anime fans in general) have killed the entire anime industry. ALL OF IT. Because if a pioneering studio like KyoAni makes one anime for women, then obviously this means every single anime studio in existence will follow in their footsteps and every anime ever made from now on will consist of nothing but bishounen and gay ship teases. Don't believe me? Please let me direct your attention to this lovely letter where one user of a website claims that women will destroy the anime industry in the same way that (in his words) women caused the Holocaust. I wish I was making this up. |

| Haters will be everywhere. I just hate that we women can't have any fanservice just for us like there's a bunch of anime that is fanservice for men. I think it's a good idea that KyoAni had and the way a lot of people are saying good things about it, will give ideas to other studios and make more anime like this. |
