| I really enjoyed this show, a lot more than I thought I would. It's a Gainax show, so I was actually expecting the mechs and weird animation. I didn't really notice the themes of puberty/maturity but I guess I wasn't looking hard enough because when you mention it, that's a really spot on one. Of course, I have to mention the music, too. This soundtrack is AWESOME. I love almost every song on it. The pillows are even going on strong today, so check them out. For the dub, it was pretty good, especially Haruko. I loved her voice. It was a bit weird throughout the whole show, but I think it really fits. This show just has that level of weirdness that an odd sounding dub sets the tone for the whole show, and I think it's fantastic. Overall, I would give it an 8/10. Definitely weird, but endearing. It's not my favorite Gainax show I've seen (For now, since I'm only about halfway through TTGL) but it's a great experience with some hidden depths for rewatch value. Looking forward to the next watch! |
