Hello fellow racers! It's almost time for our long awaited first tournament. Here's the structure and rules for the tournament.
TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE:
The tournament will come in four rounds, starting with 6 people.
Throughout the first 2 rounds points will be accumulated with players split into 2 groups of 3. After the second round, the player with the fewest points will be eliminated, leaving the 3rd round with 5 players.
Everyone's points will revert back to 0 for the third round. As a reward, the players who came in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will receive 10, 7, and 5 extra points, respectively, for the beginning of the 3rd round. Points will be accumulated throughout the 3rd and 4th rounds. After the 3rd round, 1 more player will be eliminated, leaving the final round with 4 players.
In the event of a tie at the end of the final round, all racers involved will each choose one grand prix to race in with the addition of the Special Cup in the end. In a tie breaker, the vehicle rules don't apply (Ex: you can use a bike in the Shell Cup, you can use a kart in the Flower Cup) and points will be accumulated.
Whoever has the most points in the end of round 4 or wins the tiebreaker at the end of round 4 will be the unofficial winner of the tournament.
Round 1: Mushroom Cup -> Shell Cup (Karts only)
Round 2: Banana Cup -> Flower Cup (Bikes only)
Round 3: Leaf Cup -> Star Cup (Karts/Bikes)
Round 4: Lightning Cup -> Special Cup (Karts/Bikes)
Now introducing the TOURNAMENT CHALLENGE:
Within a week after the unofficial winner is decided, ONLY the runner-up may challenge the winner for his/her #1 position. The rules are slightly different then those of the tiebreaker. Like in the tiebreaker, both players choose one grand prix with the addition of the Special Cup and the vehicle rules don't apply. Unlike the tiebreaker, the winner isn't determined with the points accumulated from each grand prix but with the # of grand prixs the players win.
There is also a catch. If the challenger wins, then he takes the #1 spot and the previous winner cannot demand a rematch, BUT if the challenger loses, then the #3 player may challenge him/her for his/her spot. This doesn't continue further to the #4 player.
If the TOURNAMENT CHALLENGE ends with a tie (for example: both players tie in every grand prix or both win 1 grand prix and tie in the third), then the unofficial winner of the tournament wins the challenge.
TOURNAMENT RULES:
CHEATING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED! If I or any other tournament officers see any signs of cheating, the cheater will be disqualified.
Only those who have entered their friend codes and time zones in WFC Chat are eligible to compete.
