Hello! I just thought I'd start this topic off. What kind of sword-related anime do you enjoy? List them here and make a discussion out of it! I like Inuyasha with all of it's sword-slashing mayhem. The only problem is that the T.V. series has gone on so long, I feel like I'm missing the point of the anime most of the time. @_@

Gah I haven't watched Inuyasha, Peace Maker Kurogane, OR Ruroni Kenshin...*feels deprived* I haven't seen many series in which swords are the central theme, but the best ones I've seen are Claymore and, of course, Bleach. Definitely must-watches if you are a fan of sword animes. As for Shana, I dunno I guess she's ok as a character overall but quite frankly, the fight scenes in Shakugan no Shana were boring as heck. I don't even know how I stuck through the whole series >_> My favorite swords[wo]man is Saber from Fate/Stay Night. You might call my love for her obsessive--she's an awesome fighter, I found her manner charming, and plus, she's voiced by Ayako Kawasumi. <3 You can NEVER go wrong with Ayako Kawasumi. Gah I want to talk about other series but I don't want this post to get too long. >.<

How's the plot in Shakugan no Shana and Claymore? Is there a lot of blood and gore or something? Not that I mind though, some blood goes fine with me. For example, Blood +. Tons of bloody scenes. Even the introduction itself has blood in it, and the plot is solid!

I watched those series quite a while ago, but as far as I remember Shakugan no Shana isn't that bloody. I wasn't impressed with the plot either, and I found the characters uninspired. Sorry to all you Shana fans but that series was not my cup of tea. Claymore, on the other hand, was epic. You get a fair amount of blood, guts, and severed body parts, and I was enraptured by the story. The ending was disappointing though, since it was anime-original material and not based on the manga.

Is Claymore kind of like Bleach or is it different altogether? Because I logged on one time and it said that if I liked Claymore, I'd enjoy Bleach as well.

I've heard that Claymore is like a supercharged Bleach, whatever that means. >_> It's kinda similar in that characters "level up" and that the main character fights the organization where she's from (similar to how Ichigo fights Soul Society). It's also similar in that friendship is a major theme. Differences would be that the fighters in Claymore are all female. There are more differences, but I can't think of any at the moment. -_-

Somehow, when I read that the main character fights the "organization," I automatically associated that with Sora from Kingdom Hearts. lol

Well, i dont have any special favorit among the "Swordsmanships" movies/series... I simple love them all :D But i guess Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children might be a little closer to my heart. I simple love that Massive Sword Cloud has. The final battle between Cloud and Sephiroth was also very nice and well made. I really hope that they make a new movie in the same manner :D

I watched Advent Children the first time and I thought it was great. At first, though, when Cloud started busting out with various swords, I was wondering, "Is this a new limit break?" But then I saw the slashing movements and I kinda guessed it was Omnislash. It's just that I've played the game so long that I'm just used to Cloud doing Omnislash with just one sword.

There was actually a name for that Omnislash he used, I think it was mark III or something like that. Claymore is very good, but the anime had an original ending to which I'm not very partial to, I think the manga is going in a much better direction. The resemblance it has to Bleach is really uncanny. I'm getting pretty bored with Bleach actually, Kubo is really dragging out the whole arrancar thing, it's starting to get on my nerves, and there's way too many unanswered questions. I love Blood +! However due to my huge backlog of videogames, and much more anime I have to watch it's currently on hold. I own the Blood: The Last Vampire dvd and I really liked that. Inuyasha pretty much was the same situation as Bleach is now, I simply got bored, too many fillers and one of the worst endings I've seen in an anime. >.< I personally liked Shakugan no Shana, I thought it was cute. It's not the best anime I've seen but it certainly isn't the worst. Rurouni Kenshin was epic, it's a shame the anime ended up in the toilet. The OVA's were works of art, and the motion picture was decent, although the american dub was atrocious. I haven't seen Peace Maker Kurogane, and I need to rewatch Fate Stay Night. One of my favorite's is Jubei from ninja Scroll. ^.^

Yeah it gets sad when the anime fails to live up to the expectations its manga counterpart has. Inuyasha was great for a time but then it just started repeating the whole thing and strayed WAY from the original plot. Good guy gets semi-killed. Good guy is revived by good girl. Both meet people who want to kill antagonist. Antagonist is finally killed. The anime just never ended! Then we have to add to the fact that they keep reviving Kikyo! Kikyo dies, no, Kikyo LIVES, no, Kikyo dies again, NOPE KIKYO IS STILL ALIVE! I think 90% of the viewing population wanted to throw the book at Kikyo and be done with her, myself included.

Yeah, the Inuyasha anime was really long, but I think the funny thing was that it was actually canceled. If you've ever seen the last episode you'd know they picked the best time to cancel it. Kind of ironic when I think about it. ^.^ I've never read too far into the manga so I can't really give a solid opinion on it, but I hear it's considerably better . Another one of my favorites is Samurai Champloo, that anime was EPIC. Especially the last episode, that last fight between Jin and Kairya was awesome, I get chills when I think about it.

I haven't exactly seen the last episode of Samurai Champloo but I loved it nonetheless. The trio always seemed to encounter their fair share of bad luck. Kidnapping, debt, no food, no money, looking for a guy that smells of SUNFLOWERS. How do sunflowers smell anyway? O_o. Do you know the number of the last episode of Samurai Champloo? I really want to see how it ended.

Yeah, the last episode was 26. Such an awesome ending, there's even a couple of music tracks I loved that played specifically in that episode, and I can't find them anywhere.>.< Sunflowers do actually have a smell, I read somewhere that it was supposed to be very sweet.

I love all the swords in Samurai 7. They're all unique and fit each users personality. Plus, they can cut through mechs with them...how much awesome could you get? I've always had a fondness for Inuyasha's unique swords as well. Any anime where the sword gets stronger and stronger as the person uses it grabs my attention.

I'd have to say that Bleach and Kenshin are my two favorite sword-related animes. Bleach just hit 221 episodes today, so that proves how well it is doing! Gotta love the fighting style of kenshin with the backwards blade for not killing. Both have awesome storylines. I am planning on watching Claymore really soon too. I hear it is good. I am more of a fan of male swordsmen, but I'll give it a shot, lol.

Tsukikage Ran gets my vote simply because of elegant and believable swordplay - quick and to the point. It's something that senseis would actually teach students ore of the aikido and efficient dance than a Hollywood production stuff. That said...I also enjoy all of the suggestions like Kenshin and the Samurai Champloo duo. Wow! By the way Tsukikage, Kenshin and the Champloo duos are "real" samurais in their stories..I think...
