Synopsis

After researching numerous gruesome murder cases, experts confirm that terrifying beings known as ghouls are responsible for the atrocities. Indistinguishable from humans, these individuals have been lurking in the shadows for centuries, using their cunning intelligence to prey on mankind.

Despite his friendly outward appearance, 19-year-old cafe employee Ken Kaneki is actually a ghoul. He spends his days alternating between working his morning shifts and satisfying his endless hunger. However, when a ghoul investigator starts closing in on him, Ken must take matters into his own hands if he wants to keep blending in with society.

Tokyo Ghoul is amazing in my opinion. The mood the art style sets, the interactions between characters, and the overall plot are outstanding.

Kaneki is a sweet and caring character. Even though later on he somewhat looses this aspect of his character, he still maintains his baseline humanity. The story really is portrayed well. If you watched the anime first and are deciding whether or not reading it would be a waste of time, I can assure you it's not. The anime sucked. The manga is amazing.
