The Blue Lock Egoist Fest 2025 announced a sequel anime for the television anime on Sunday, revealing an announcement visual (pictured above).

The Fest also announced a live-action movie adaptation of Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yuusuke Nomura's team sports manga. The live-action movie will premiere in theaters in Japan in Summer 2026.

Produced by 8bit, the first anime season aired in 24 episodes from Fall 2022 to Winter 2023, followed by the 14-episode second season, Blue Lock vs. U-20 Japan, in Fall 2024. Crunchyroll streamed the anime with subtitles and dubs in multiple languages.

The Blue Lock: Episode Nagi spin-off movie premiered in April 2024.

Kaneshiro and Nomura began serializing the manga in Weekly Shounen Magazine in August 2018. Kodansha published the 35th volume on August 12, with the 36th volume planned for a November 17 release. Blue Lock has a cumulative 45 million copies of its volume in circulation.

Kodansha USA licensed the manga for digital release in English in January 2021 and published the 33rd volume on September 9.

Honestly, I don't have any interest in it. There's been only one arc in the manga aside from what has already been adapted. Granted, it's a giant one (over 130 chapters already, and it's not over). But it's ONE. ARC. I also don't really like the few chapters I read. And of course, I'm not confident in the animation, after season 2.....
But hey, wait & see.

@deg i disagree, season one was decent. I had a similar complaint with captain Tsubasa 2018 being a power point slide shot so I can say blue lock is way better!

I hope they produce a good production. This episode is not like the previous part. Only the last two minutes of the episode are good.

Hope they try animating the whole thing this time and not just 2 minutes in the final episode.

i personally wish they would just release a full color version of the manga instead of making more powerpoint anime like i mean they can save a lot of money that way considering how cheaply made the anime versions are

Took exactly 9 months after the end of S2 to announce a 3rd season, which is interesting (S2 ended on 28 December 2024, and today is 28 September 2025).
