'Saijaku Tamer wa Gomi Hiroi no Tabi wo Hajimemashita.' Second Season Announced

The official website for the television anime adaptation of Honobonoru500's Saijaku Tamer wa Gomi Hiroi no Tabi wo Hajimemashita. (The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash) light novel announced a second season on Wednesday.

Produced by Studio Massket, the 12-episode first season aired in Winter 2024. Crunchyroll simulcasted the anime with subtitles and dubs in multiple languages.

Honobonoru500 began penning the story on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in August 2018. TO Books began publishing the title with illustrations by Nama in November 2019. The 14th volume was released on June 20, with the 15th volume scheduled to be shipped on December 15.

Tou Fukino began serializing a manga adaptation on the Comic Corona magazine in February 2020. TO Books published the seventh volume on January 15, with the eighth volume planned for a December 15 release.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the light novel and manga in English in November 2021. The 11th light novel volume went on sale on October 30, and the seventh manga volume was released on September 30.

Synopsis
Born into a loving family, Femicia appears to have a bright future ahead of her. When she finally turns five, the time comes to go to the church to have her skills appraised. However, while she does receive a monster tamer skill, it turns out that Femicia has zero stars for that ability. To make matters worse, society considers those who have zero stars to be harbingers of misfortune; as a result, Femicia is shunned by everyone—including her family.

Soon enough, Femicia is chased out of her village and is constantly on the run. Fearing for her life, she decides to masquerade as a boy and change her name to Ivy. With a goal given to her by a fortune teller to reach the royal capital, Ivy meets and successfully tames a slime, starting an unlikely friendship that may provide a means to get the destiny she deserves. Glad this is getting a second season. Hopefully they can keep the quality and pacing at a similar or better level to that of season 1.

i'm entirely (and pleasantly) surprised! :O i liked S1. it was very good. not awesome or perfect but very good. i certainly didn't think it would get a second season. i'll have to entirely binge the S1 EDub right before S2 because... i barely remember the salient plot points other than what the synopsis reminded me of.

Of things on my bingo card, this wasn't one I was expecting. I'd kind of written the anime off as a one and done seasonal though I am glad to hear more is coming as it had a somewhat more interesting premise compared to other isekai series.
