Manga 'Jirai nan desu ka? Chihara-san' Gets TV Anime in 2026

Production company King Records opened an official website for the television anime adaptation of Ryon's Jirai nan desu ka? Chihara-san (Are You a Jirai Girl, Chihara-san?) manga on Thursday, revealing the main cast, staff, and a teaser visual (pictured). The anime series will begin airing in 2026.

Voice actors Sayumi Suzushiro (High Score Girl) and Kazuki Ura (Zenshuu) are starring as Mai Chihara and Kuroki, respectively.

Ryon began drawing the romance comedy manga on Comic Smart's Ganma! platform in June 2021. Ichijinsha published the seventh volume on June 25, with the eighth volume planned for a January 7, 2026 release.

Synopsis
At the start of a new school year, second-year high school student Kuroki, an unremarkable and quiet boy, is assigned a new seat—next to Mai Chihara, a girl rumored to be a "dangerous" jirai-kei type. With her doll-like complexion, red-rimmed eyes, and constantly somber expression, she certainly looks the part.

Although wary at first, Kuroki gradually realizes that Mai is not quite what the rumors suggest. Her unpredictable behavior often leaves him confused, but as he spends more time beside her, he begins to notice unexpected sides to her personality. Despite her intimidating appearance, Mai turns out to be awkward, oddly sincere, fond of cats, and full of surprising quirks. As Kuroki's impression of her slowly changes, their everyday classroom interactions take on a new tone.

A school comedy about first impressions, misunderstandings, and the unexpected charm of the girl next door—this is the start of a slightly awkward, quietly thrilling high school story.

Actually surprised to see this one, I remember reading like 20 chapters 2 years ago and it was cute but I felt like not much was happening. Might be better in the anime format tho.
