I watched Sakurasou back in 2021, one year after I first started watching anime. I even watched it alongside Fate/Zero (complete contrast of genre) which also became one of my top 10 anime I ever watched!
Similar to Toradora (another rom-com, drama and high school anime at the time), it had well written characters, a great OST, the art style was pretty neat and the overall story (in my opinion) was a wonderful one! Just like Bunny Girl Senpai (which I watched earlier that same year), I was skeptical of the title but ultimately enjoyed it from start to finish.

Going to watch Madoka Magica soon, I hope it's as good as people say it is!

Agreed. I had some issues with it (though weirdly enough, the pacing wasn't really one of them, despite it seemingly being the biggest complaint for even a lot of people who enjoyed the show. like you), but I do think it ultimately deserved a warmer reception than it got.

Nice review for Magia Record. Your point about the show's use of subtle visual cues for characterisation was really interesting.

That aside, I’m glad my impressions of Magia Record improved with s2, even if it wasn’t as smooth as I would’ve liked it to be.
