If you read my reviews, I usually explain why I like or dislike a series. The reason I give a large number of 1-3s is because I am a fan of occasionally watching terrible movies and anime, so I will go out of my way to find some of the worst series ever made. I find that it provides some perspective and makes me appreciate the good movies and series even more!
Interesting question. I suppose because I'm not overly generous with my ratings. I give high ratings to the series that meet my personal aesthetic criteria and very rarely give out 10s. Of the anime we share in common, my average rating is quite a bit lower than yours.
