No problem regarding the long post (it doesn't really bother me). I have recently been reading a bit more of Claymore and can definitely see the manga as being classed as a seinen as it isn't as power-up heavy as the anime was and has gotten a bit a lot more thought based. In regards to Berserk, if you are going to watch the anime I highly suggest that you read the few chapters after the events of the golden age as they give you background to what happened after a certain event occurred;

As for the anime...yeah I am definitely not a fan for several reasons, heck, I even wrote a review on it. To put it shortly, I think that Berserk (2016) fails in pretty much every aspect. The story is rushed and butchered, the pacing is absolute garbage (even conversations between characters look like I'm watching them talk in 2x speed), the characters are probably the only thing of the series that came out mostly unscathed (aside from Guts that is), the CGI animation for the monsters is absolutely disgusting and makes the CGI in Deltora Quest look revolutionary and the characters look off, the 2D animation i thought looked too clean and refined for a series as gritty and dark as Berserk, almost all the music aside from the OP (which I thought was really good as it fit Berserk well, it wasn't perfect but it was a good start) is terrible (just generic heavy metal music that sounds horrible), sound is also terrible (the clang of Gut's sword has become a meme at this point) and the camera angles are vomit inducing.

As for Tokyo Ghoul root A I also thought that the idea of
was fairly original as well, the only problem was its execution. Speaking of TG have you read the sequel Tokyo Ghoul: Re? I've read about 20 chapters and it seems to be a lot different than the first manga in both tone and setting.

Well it's been awhile since I've read TG but I'll try to explain it as best as I can anyway. I believe that Tokyo Ghoul (the manga that is) excels in pretty much every area. To put it shortly, it has a gripping and compelling story, likable characters and great art. I also love how dark and grounded it is for such a bizarre concept and how morally grey the series is. It isn't black and white like a lot of anime nowadays and forces you to think and question your morals and decide for yourself whether or not if either side is good or bad. I also really like how the series puts us in a semi non-biased perspective and allows us to see into both the lives of the Doves as well as the Ghouls so we can see both the pros and cons of each side.

As for the anime adaption for TG...well I hope it improves drastically from root A. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed the first season (I actually watched it before reading it likewise with the second season) but the second season was a mess. Various characters integral to the story were cut out and there was little to no Kaneki. The story was almost non-existent and I had absolutely no idea what was going on until the last 2-3 episodes. It was basically like watching people talk gibberish go from place to place and fight each other. Because of this none of the fights had any tension or any stakes (until the end of course). I haven't read much of the sequel to Tokyo Ghoul so I'm not sure how good it is but it will be interesting to see how they adapt a third season...that is IF they adapt a third season but who knows at this point, Berserk got another adaption after 20 years so why can't TG get a third season? Speaking of which, I've noticed you've been watching the new Berserk and would like to hear what you think about it!

As for Claymore being classified as a seinen rather than a shounen I'm not too sure about that. Don't get me wrong, Claymore is really intelligent for a shounen, almost where it's unfair to group it together with other shows like Dragonball, Naruto and One Piece which are much more dumbed down in comparison, but the problem resides in the classifications of the genres themselves. As much as I would love to classify Claymore as a seinen rather than a shounen, It just doesn't fit the qualifications of a seinen, as seinen feature fights that are based more on outwitting your opponent (something like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable) as opposed to a shounen which features fights reliant on overpowering the opponent (usually through power ups). This is where it's clear that Claymore is a shounen, instead of a battle of wits we see Clare go through various power ups which allow Clare to overpower her opponents rather than outsmart them (this is really apparent in the end fight). While I do think that it might be justifiable to classify Claymore as a seinen, I can understand why it is classified as a shounen.

Wow that was way longer than I intended, sorry for that, I hope that explains everything though! :)

To answer your question, yes my favourites are somewhat ordered. However, I think all of the anime on my favourites list are great anime's in their own rights so they are mostly ordered based on my enjoyment of the anime. My manga favourites list is ordered in a similar fashion with Tokyo Ghoul being my absolute favourite manga I have read thus far, both for having enjoyed it all the way through and because I think it's a masterpiece. Likewise it's really cool of you to send me a friend request, so thanks for that! It's nice to see that we share the same tastes in anime and manga.

Oh and as a quick side note, I also fell in love with Claymore at first sight. I loved the unique setting and dark, serious atmosphere of the series, mind you this was just after I finished Berserk and so I was in the mood for something similar and might be just a tad biased but I did really love Claymore from start to finish, even though I feel that it started to fall apart near the end but nevertheless a great series. Just thought I'd mention that ;)

Thanks for the friend request! I know it was a little while ago but it's good to see we share some of the same views on anime and manga.

Hi! We seem to have eerily similar tastes in shows/characters/couples(omg so many shipped couples <3), not to mention the same birth month. Could just be a coincidence, but I'm a believer in fate and destiny. Let's be friends and talk about our lord and savior Vincen-I mean, Pino.
