Doing a video on the franchise being halfway through its 10 Year Plan they announced with the release of Fukkatsu. I was not expecting the premiere of this show to be THIS BAD compared to the original. Makes it look like LOGH.

That being said, I'm watching the new Geass anime (Roze) for content so this isn't exactly much better. Episode one feels tailor-made to make the original show look better by showing just how much worse it could have been by every conceivable metric. Episode 2 isn't much better, either. It's kinda wild how the show so far is just a dumber, edgier, somehow 10X more blunt Geass Greatest Hits collection, on top of having the most idiotic way to get us to where we are that it renders the state of world post-R2/Movie 3 entirely worthless. They United States of Japan/Britannia is worth even less than our UN.

I saw. I felt pain. I won't be watching.

El-Melloi overall is basically just worldbuilding circlejerk and while some of those concepts are kinda cute and neat, that's all the series ends up being for the most part, since it never does anything with those ideas to make any really fun plots, mysteries, or character explorations like I find this special did. It got kinda boring by the Rail Zeppelin arc cuz there was nothing I found all that entertaining about it or worth latching onto aside from Waver and his banter with some of the other guys like Luvia.

Honestly, it's what I wished the series could've been: interesting applications of Nasu's crazy worldbuilding that actually explore the characters in interesting ways. Most of the series is just lame pseudomystery shit with mildly amusing characters and banter, but without anything engaging about the actual stories beyond "look at the characters banter" and "look at this weird and mildly flashy thing we can do in this setting" after the fun prologue adventure of ep 1.

Those days are over, Derm. I'm a changed man. I'm not the same.person who watchrd Smartphone because no one else was. Hell, I'm thinking of leaving seasonals and reviews altogether aometime next year. I can't knowingly consime garbage like this or Bebop Netflix anymore.
