I love books movies shows and animanga. Stories in general. I believe in enjoying multiple things for what they are and like being involved in multiple fandoms to me variety is the flavour of life. Firm believer in forming your own opinion and voicing it defenitley but respectfully. Be kind.
If I favorite an author or a studio it is done based on my view of their work not the person or company itself. If an author consistently writes things I like and a studio produces products I like I am a fan. I am not endorsing the creator as I am not personally familiar with them.
Well this is my rating system. S and A are stuff I'm a fan of B is where Im mostly positive and enjoyed it , C is where I was kinda mixed but okay I guess , D is where I thought this was mediocre and F is just man this was a bad experience.
S ( 10 or 9) GREAT
A ( 8 ) VERY GOOD
B ( 7 ) GOOD
C ( 6 ) DECENT
D ( 5 or 4 ) MEDIOCRE
F ( 3, 2 or 1 ) BAD
My method of rating is based on three main components I just add them up and average the rating. To me nothing is perfect and nothing is completely worthless. A masterpiece has it's flaws and even the worst thing ever created was made by a human like you and me
The first is my own experience. My enjoyment, investment,interest, emotion it evoked, rewatch value and how fulfilling it was.This is completely subjective.
The second is the quality. This is extremely difficult to quantify. Personally I just look at characters, setting, plot, and conflict. I look at the concept it's execution and it's payoff. Doesn't have to be the most profound thing ever. This is as objective as I can get while being biased by point one. Basically themes and such.
The third is iconicity. Basically how much of an influence.this work has been on the medium as a whole on its consumers and on me as a person. It could've inspired another series I love. It could've made me fall in love with the medium more. It could've created a fandom I love being a part of. It could've even made me a better person. This is deeply personal to me.

That said, I can see how you'd score it a 7 given the length. Sometimes I look at my overall average and wonder if I'm a little too generous? I used to pick up stuff at random but now I'm more picky about what I start, so it's become less common for something to truly flop with me and I think that's driven up my average. Anyway, I hope Emofuu puts out another project in the future because they're clearly talented (and I wish bad luck on whoever canceled it at Shounen Jump).
This is the right mentality to take in this situation. If people want to see a better society, it starts one person at a time. Rejecting hate, spreading love sounds cliche but its absolutely true. In the short term its impossible to see change, but slowly it does.

I quite enjoyed HxH myself but I have only seen the 2011 version. Obviously its more complete than the older one but that version seems like it had more style in the way it was directed. I need to go back and watch the older one tbh 90's anime just hit different. Death note is good until the second part, that seems to be the majority consensus. I do in fact love Ghibli films. I've seen Grave of the Fireflies, Totoro, Howls Moving Castle, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Kiki, and the Wind Rises. My personal favorites were Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and The Wind Rises. While I love Ghibli's fantasy elements, seeing a more grounded biography about the guy who invented the Japanese zero, felt more profound to me.
In the same breath as Miyazaki, Makoto Shinkai makes some of the most beautiful animated films ever. You may have heard of some of his hits but I'd recommend them all (Your Name, Weathering With You, Suzume, Garden of Words).
The Reze film is actually some of the best animation I have ever seen. Unironically, it should have been nominated for an Oscar for the direction and sound. Unfortunately that never happened because the Hollywood old-heads aren't well versed in anime. I've never seen Paprika but anything Satoshi Kon is probably worth the watch. I'd recommend Perfect Blue from him, its brilliantly directed.

The story is also told over such a long period of time, even for a manga. Miura changed as a person over time, evident of his visceral change early on compared to the Fantasia Arc. Unfortunately, due mainly from his frequent health issues he would take long hiatus', the story suffers. Much of early Berserk was written together while latter parts were not. Everything involving Studio Gaga, while commendable in wanting to continue Miura's legacy. Can never replace the original. This is just a fact of art. I have never read any of it personally, for me the story ended when Kentaro Miura died.
Glad to hear that even though you didn't love the series, it resonated with you enough to write a review. At least for me, Berserk is unbeaten at showing raw emotion so well that the characters feel real. That and a combination of Miura's work ethic is inspiring. Thanks for sharing!
