I've been watching anime for longer than I care to remember.
Believe it or not but I became interested after reading a rather expressive inscription "eva rulez" on a table in one of lecture halls in university I attended. At the time I had no idea what it was about, but for some inexplicable reason it stuck in my head for years and eventually led me to fandom.
My first titles were Azumanga Daioh and Noir. I wanted to watch Evangelion, of course (by then I knew what that exclamation was about), but was deemed not ready. What was going through that guy's head when he chose these two I'll never understand. Azumanga Daioh was like "what the hell is this"; it was goddamn awful for uninitiated. Noir was OK, I liked the music. Still took me months and several restarts to actually watch it to the end though. All in all it put a damper on my enthusiasm about anime.
But enigmatic, strange, and elusive eva still called to me, so at some point I did get my hands on it (again, through heavy scepticism of people involved in this quest).
And my life had changed. I loved it.
I know, I know, it all sounds overly dramatic, and frankly I'm writing this with a smile on my face, and maybe embellishing it all just a little bit. However, this doesn't make the core of it less true. (And that bit about inscription is definitely true! My life is sometimes weird like that).
Time have passed, lots of fun have been had, lots of time have been wasted on less than perfect production. Some nice people were met through common interest and left to go their own ways since.
I'm still enjoying anime. While my attitude towards it now is more of a consumer than a die-hard fan, and I consider most of what I watch a rather mindless entertainment for times when I'm too tired to do anything more mentally taxing, I still think there are some genuine gems out there. (And let's not underestimate the value of quality mindless entertainment either! There are certainly worse ways to spend your downtime.)
What else?
My ratings for recently watched titles are almost completely based on enjoyment in the moment. However, they occasionally get adjusted according to whether I remember anything about the title later on, and whether the memories are good. A six can mean anything between "it was OK" and "I liked it a lot but it was long ago and looking back I really have no idea why". All in all they aren't
very consistent.
My other hobbies are books and music. My old favorite was Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga. My most recent discovery was Greg Egan. But it's getting very hard to find decent read after I read HPMOR :(
Music is a long story; my taste is all over the place, so here is just
a tiny tiny snapshot. This track never fails to bring smile on my face. :) Sorry if it weirded you out, the video is from completely different fandom, but I think it fits :-D If you want an example closer to anime, look no further than Zankyou no Terror soundtrack. Or... But I'll stop here, I can talk forever about music I like.
Thanks for reading; don't hesitate to say hi if you feel like it.
P.S. Almost forgot. I'm a cat person. (This is, of course, very important.)

Have a great new year!
Thank you so much for the recommondation, it was so funny and adorbale x3
But I'll definitely keep it in my and probably give it a try, thank you :3
So far, I like it and dislike it at the same time. A lot of the dialogue comes off as really stupid if not downright nonsensical and pretentious. But the premise and story are intriguing enough to keep me interested. I'll finish it eventually...
And thanks for complementing the pic haha, I saw it and immediately knew it had to go on my profile <3
Secretly evil? Downside? If I tell you anything, I'll have to kill you.
