Welcome to my profile! I'm False Shepherd, a VN-loving, Monogatari-obsessed member of the human race. I suppose i'm your typical anime fan in a lot of ways, though in the past couple years, i've found myself becoming more and more entrenched into the wild world of other mediums like VNs, LNs, and manga. so i guess you could say anime's taken a backseat lately! Fret not, i still watch stuff every now and then, but i've slowed down a ton since when i started out.

My favorite type of series/story is really just something that has a certain kind of "fascination factor". A series that just has a depth to its narrative i can lose myself in. I love when a story pushes boundaries and tries to push mine as well, though not so much when it's done purely for that sake alone.

That means if the intent is for me to feel as something where the intent is for me to feel disgust or some other negative emotion; to me, it's just as valid as something where the intent is for me to feel joy or comfort. Meaningful storytelling that is interesting is all that matters for whether a work of fiction is worth my time. Not to suggest I can't just sometimes want to have some fun! I truly will give a fair shot to just about anything.

My current definitive core favorites are Monogatari, Subarashiki Hibi, Muv-Luv, and (most recently) Mushoku Tensei. you'll rarely see someone quite as obsessed with these series than me! I've pretty much thought about Monogatari nearly every day since the day I finished them for the first time. I love, love , LOVE Monogatari. It's always at the forefront, and I'm always chomping at the bit for a chance to discuss it's myriad layers of themes and densely packed storytelling. It's a series that means the absolute world to me, and has both saved my life in its own way, and helped me to better learn to accept and understand myself and other people.


Mushoku Tensei is similar in this regard and has helped me through tough times. It's a story that shows how even when somebody is at their lowest they can still build themselves back up. These are series i deeply resonated with emotionally, and they carry a special meaning in my heart. i feel pretty inspired by the journeys of the main characters, and how they grow to become better as people. i suppose that sort of thing is a pretty common trait of a lot of series i love. the concept of self-care, learning from your mistakes, and finding a way to overcome personal trauma, embracing the best parts of who you can be.

Another fave of mine, a sort of honorable mention, would be the mindbending and horrific, yet beautiful Subarashiki Hibi. a truly maddening, touching, and fascinating psychological tale about a "girl who is the world itself" and a young man struggling with his "Discontinuous Existence". It's less said the better, because it's a narrative which unfolds and evolves into a gripping and tragic tale. Suffice to say, it's just as special to me as the others.

Btw: If it seems as though i don't give too many low ratings, it's generally because I'm not going to be able to finish something if I think it's that bad, and I usually just avoid shows that don't seem like they'd appeal to me.

My first anime was Future Diary, which is often considered the edgiest anime in existence. I find it hilarious the something as dumb as Future Diary is what it took for me to take anime seriously, and not treat it like children's cartoons.
