It's quite fun! The stories are creative, with the premise alone usually carrying my interest through a whole episode. The animation is in keeping with Miyazaki's prestige even if it's only a TV anime. Also the Discotek release is great quality if you're into buying blu-ray.

The main downside is that the story is almost entirely episodic and there's not any real character development.

If I were to compare it to Lupin III, I'd say it's similar to Part II but with more consistent highs and less repetition due to the relatively shorter length.

I'm actually just not a huge Urusei fan. No particular reason why. I think most people who loved the original will have fun with the reboot. At least my offline buddy did and he's the biggest Urusei fan I know. He's read all the manga, seen all the episodes of old and new, and watched all the movies. Dude LOVES that franchise.
