I think that the manga became popular only after the anime adaptation so it kinda makes sense after that big hype. The 1st season was alright but without that top notch animation it wouldn't be anything special.
Another example of this is Tokyo Revengers, average anime with the most annoying MC I have ever seen. As I was watching I wanted to puch my monitor whenever I saw him. Despite that it has crazy manga sales.
Great review on the Demon slayer 2nd season. It is really unbearable to watch. The first 3 eps they were just clowning around and this is supposed to be an action anime :D
