Here's my OPM season 3 review which unfortunately wasn't allowed to stay up. Upon trying to re-upload it, the same moderator kept editing or removing portions to the point where I felt it was no longer worth the hassle. I guess the myriad of negative reviews solely comparing it to the first season were alright guidelines-wise though... -_-
In 2015 we got a series beloved by everyone and anyone fancying themselves an anime fan. Shonentards, Moedeviants, Romcomslobs, EVERYONE was praising this series as the NEXT BIG THING. The comedy was GREAT, the fight scenes had OOMPH, and the ANIMATION ;_;... was really the only thing anyone cared about.
Yes. The animation was the only thing that mattered. Let's not kid ourselves. After FOUR years of anticipation, season 2 came out, and to mixed reception:
"The jokes just aren't landing the same..."
"The fight scenes don't carry as much weight as they did in season 1..."
"I'm just not a big fan of the direction they took with the story..."
ALL OF THESE ARE LIES. The truth is people placed unrealistic expectations in a show that was ALWAYS going to be a disappointment. This series is one-note. You can only drag a PUNCHline for so long before it starts to get repetitive. And it got repetitive pretty quickly.
If Garou beating up a bunch of jobbers had the same level of animation as season 1, we wouldn't hear the fucking end of how "PEAK" season 2 was...
ATTENTION is not the same as ENGAGEMENT. People can stare in wonder at a master patissier's icing on a cake—but if the cake itself is shit, it doesn't really matter now, does it? There's no substance. In the same vein, having 10/10 animation can carry a series so long as the audience doesn't care to look any deeper. Just look at something like JJK for proof.
Now don't get me wrong, this series had some good moments. Mumen Rider fighting that fish guy, ehhhhh... there was that scene in season 2 that made me laugh where the S-class hero kid self-destructed his robot dog thing. That was pretty funny. There was also that one time... I honestly can't think of anything else. This series has next to nothing to offer. The difference in "quality" between seasons doesn't matter in the slightest.
Here's how the releases go:
The first season comes out to overwhelming praise -> Studio promises the next season will have MOAR of what you love -> Unbelievable amounts of hype surround the release of the next season -> Years go by and season 2 releases to mixed reception -> Studio apologizes for disappointing, and promises the next season will have MOAR of what you love -> Unbelievable amounts of hype surround the release of the next season -> Years go by and season 3 releases to mixed reception... so on and so forth.
So, in conclusion, Bandai will either choose to:
A: Pull the plug and stop after this season, OR...
B: Apologize for disappointing, and promise the next season will have MOAR of what you love
If the MAL numbers are ANY indication of the general audience reception, then I know which one I've got my money on. And in 7 years once season 4 comes out and ends up being a massive disappointment, you'll never hear the end of how "WE DIDN'T SEE THIS COMING!!!" (l'o'l)
But none of that even BEGINS to describe my problems with how they handled Tatsumaki...
I love Tatsumaki. I want to prove myself strong for Tatsumaki. I want to become strong so that I can marry Tatsumaki and make multiple Esper babies with her. I want Tatsumaki to provide a strong lineage for me. I want to make Tatsumaki my queen.

Do you see where I'm going with this? Who CARES about Saitama and his shitty, forced existential crises when we COULD be following Tatsumaki? Who CARES about Genos getting stronger to avenge his family (only to job in EVERY fight he's in) when we COULD be watching Tatsumaki have a romcom (with me)? Why SHOULD we care about the hero hunter guy shitting up the screen for the entirety of season 2—and (so far) most of season 3—when we COULD be watching Tatsumaki teach (our) children how to harness their burgeoning ESP powers with some SOL goodness?
Exactly.
Overall a completely mediocre product (just like the first 2 seasons), but if you're a fan of the series you'll still have reasons to enjoy it.
... Unless you NEED your shows to have SUGOI DESU SAKUGA ANIMATION™ to enjoy them, in which case you'll hate it for not being up to par.
The same thing happened to my stupid School Days review which had been up on this site with no problem for nearly 10 years. Maybe gaussian_ —MAL's resident friend of Dorothy—just has it out for me.
School Days is an anime. An unparalleled spectacle masquerading as a simple anime. Its brilliance shines brighter than its ostentatious counterparts; like a god among men. From such (deserved) praise, one could possibly surmise that this particular work of art is collectively cherished and regarded as masterful; however, sadly, such is not the case. It's fairly common for the most profound of art to go unnoticed for long periods of time. It's even less common for it to be scoffed at and deemed as trash; for the ignorant masses are simply unaware. Despite this--or rather, because of this--I will stand by my claim, and will further advocate my belief in the quality of this immaculately-crafted work.
For one such as I to claim that School Days is anything but vulgar is seen as mere heresy. Its objective was to deconstruct, and deconstruct it did. I do not wish to be so contrarian, it's simply coincidence that my viewpoints seem so. In concept alone, School Days figuratively defecates on the egregious escapism surrounding this repulsive medium. It is a title brimming with allegory and psychoanalysis. There are no voluptuous females. No gorgeous animation. No quip dialogue. No abstract presentation. Nothing. Because of this the myopic are prone to shun it. However, this lack of superficiality works in its favor. Unlike the schlock this medium is rife with, it does not need to use superficial elements as a pretense. Its narrative is all that is necessary.
The themes presented in School Days will become more and more profound as time passes. The industry will continuously produce dreck, and the fans will know no better. It's evident that anime will never again create a work such as this, so please, I beseech you: let them know of this treasure. Show them the light.
My Code Geass review, which was just as old, was also taken down as well. Honestly, I can't even blame them for taking action on this one. Apparently I didn't know how to use hyphens at the time.
Code Geass is an anime. A vile and repugnant anime. One that adheres to the lowest common denominator with its juvenile narrative and narratively-broken juvenility. Such neanderthalic storytelling is most apparent in this second season. A feeling of unease pervades the 25-episode series; presumably miniscule foreboding deemed as merely idiosyncratic by the mentally-retarded. "One cannot simply judge so half-heartedly" they say—without realizing their own hypocrisy. Void of any sense, these sheep are taken in by the malevolence of Sunrise. Their heinous acts shall not go unnoticed.
The mere accusation that I am not aware of that which I type is the sole reason as to why this review will be so contemptuous. Unlike the others, I was not indoctrinated. The simpletons are simply not aware of its glaring problems; and its lack of (any) good qualities. Was it the falsehood of the congenial cast? The falsely-claimed pulchritudinous of the one-dimensional-waifu-bait female cast? What about the pseudo-intelligent "philosophy?" Or was it the manner in which everyone's favorite Hitler/Jesus-wannabe's contrived character arc played out, making this abhorrent filth look more like a sorry attempt at a modern hagiographical piece written by incompetents. Appealing to 14-year-old--and by extension manchildren with the minds of 14-year-old--was by no means commendable.
And now, with the upcoming season 3, this still stands. As an anime messiah, I have granted you wisdom regarding this travesty. Spread the word. Let them know of this abomination.

I'm planning on making a few changes to appease the mods and then reposting it now that i finally have time. If it gets removed again then yeah go for it, but lets see if it stays up this time. It will probably be up some time tomorrow.
Yes I agree about the DS version. I'm not a fan. The other issue with it is that Chrono Trigger just works better on the big screen as opposed to the handheld. It's an epic game and the experience just isn't the same for me when it's on a screen a few inches across. The text in the DS version also seems oddly-sized and it can be a chore to read. And then, of course, the actual new content they added was fairly mediocre.

ZZ has that reputation for being kind of crap, but Victory Gundam seems really divisive and I've always wondered if it was good or not ever since I first heard about it. I picked it up on Blu-Ray so I finally have a chance to find out.
Rose of Versailles is to shoujo what LotGH is to space opera, or Akira is to cyberpunk. It is a classic in every sense of the word, I always say that newer stuff is just as good as older stuff as long as you look in the right places, but that doesn't apply to stuff like Rose of Versailles - it's the kind of sweeping epic that they really don't make anymore. I highly recommend it and if you have even a passing interest in shoujo, it is a literal must-watch. What sweetened the deal for me was seeing the visual style in it that influenced Utena, since Utena is far and away my favorite anime.
The mod "_Ghost_" removed it and didn't provide any actual explanation for why it was removed, and said my account would be suspended if its posted again. I'm waiting on a response from him as to what exactly would need changed but I'm kinda getting the feel that he just didn't like what I had to say. But if all it takes is a few easy fixes then it will go back up. I'll send you a PM of the original text.
Honestly that was one of my biggest issues with CCA. I didn't watch ZZ, so I don't know what Char did during that series, but going from Zeta to CCA he was like a completely different person. It wasn't that he was being a conflicted and multifaceted character, he was literally doing the complete opposite of the things he'd done in Zeta. That always really bothered me to be honest.
I picked up ZZ from RightStuf, decided to bite the bullet and watch it myself too. I've only watched the first episode so far but...yea that first episode didn't inspire confidence. But I've heard the same things about it improving, so I'll keep rolling along and give it a chance.
