✌Hey, no bigs. I didn't feel slightly offended. It was trying to get at the other 2 users who always just roast thewiru in his threads. It feels extremely pathological.
I know the feeling you expressed there, if I get it, the gist is:
There is group A. People in A are proud nationalists. A is upset because their media production, economic decadence.
J, better 日 has passed them in media production. Then there is B C, who like media made by 日.
A is jealous of 日 and looks down on BC. B people look down on BC, to get A's favor.
Some B are A's too, and C is outside that.
It is somewhat what I get when I open a page and favs go something like "Ghost stories" + europe fantasy + jojo + banana fish + bacanno + full of American VA. Or "English Dubbed X anime full of dubbed songs is the superior version". To cite just some. But there is a chance it is not an A-heugemonic.
MAL is the place people can go full C, and we never need to talk about A or A values.
Anyway, I also have no regrets and believe the things I say too. Sorry if it somehow felt like it was targetted to you. ✌
I remember the box art on the VHS tape for Toshinden even said, edited for younger audiences. What I find funny about that statement, is that they still left the part where Gaia impales Chaos with his sword. It was a still frame sure, but you could see the impalement with blood and everything. Guess the censors must have missed that part. But yeah all the Sophia moments were cut down to say the least. No shower scene bro! :(
I think what they pulled off for the two episodes was very well though. I remember, as stated before that it felt for the first time I was watching a very mature anime. I'll never forget the first time I heard Master Fo say, "another thing I take pleasure in is seeing these covered with blood!" Pulling out his wolverine style claws, it was always a moment for me.
Yes!!! I remember it being on the Wii but I didn't mention it in my last reply because I couldn't remember for sure. My Google skills availed me not I guess, or my laziness. 😭 But yeah decent game, kind of an odd decision to try and reboot the series like that.
Ah interesting, very interesting. So you had the pleasure of learning about the game before the anime right? That's pretty awesome. I sadly was the opposite, I watched the anime long before I ever got into the game. In fact it's funny because the VHS copy that I rented from Blockbuster even said that it was based on the hit video game, but it's something I didn't really notice. Probably because it was just a rental and I never took the actual cover artwork with me. Sadly it was the more censored version that I got.
I do agree with you about the games being kind of rough especially compared to modern fighters. However it was unique in the fact that I believe it was the first 3D fighting game to ever feature sidestepping. I do agree that the anime version of it could have been better, but at the same time there were so many characters and only two episodes being produced. I think it would have been great to see it at least as a 12-episode anime. Guess we'll never know though.
I think my favorite thing about Toshinden was the characters, they had good variety, rivalries and we're very fleshed out for the time. I remember at the time I really did feel like I was watching a mature anime for the first time, that might have been white struck such a chord with me. Did you know that they actually made some other battle arena toshinden games but I think they served as more of a spin-off to the series with new characters and whatnot.
Thanks for the kind words. I've had a pretty good week thus far, aside from some iffy weather lately. Yeah I've been a fan of Toshinden for a long time. First watched it back in the mid-90s on VHS. How did you first discover it? 🙂
Hey there buddy, thank you very much for the friend request! Oh my gosh another Battle Arena Toshinden fan! I absolutely love your favorites. How are you? :)
