Hi there! Name's Jen.
I'm a sucker beyond saving for shounen as I keep falling in their clandestine traps. Have given up on fixing my ways around the time I discovered the world of hunters, supershounen basketball skills and sci-fi edo and have fully embraced the fall into the abyss of bromance, epic power ups and endearingness since.
Scoring:
10 = one of a kind on personal level; 8 = well-rounded and outlier even among good shows; 5 = not entirely incompetent; 3 = offensively/thematically bad; 1 = unsalvageable.

I call it natural selection because Gege seems to well understand the strengths of the longstanding genre for a current audience.
An 8/10 is a great score I genuinely thought the season deserved. Despite some small hitches, it's a great run of 24 exciting episodes with a fun ensemble, cool world and super hype exciting action with a strong score. Considering how impressed I was with it, and not having written as many positive reviews in a while, I felt like it deserved a runthrough. I made other reviews as well if you're curious, and I'll message you if I write another one.
Assuming it's true though, I'll say I honestly have mixed feelings. On the one hand I'm beyond excited for more Madoka. After all this time it would be awesome to get a continuation of what could probably never be a completed story. On the other hand, it's honestly kinda stressful. Madoka is so important to me. I've taken so many lessons from it and cherished it over the years. It even helped me quit drinking. Because of that, another part of the story that's anything less than a masterpiece would feel like a letdown. The staff for the show are all hella skilled, but I've followed their careers elsewhere and they've never made anything as good as Madoka. What if they can't replicate it? What if it's solid, but not mind-blowing? I've rewatched Madoka recently, and while it still holds up and made me feel all the things, I also noticed parts of it, like the unnaturalism of some of the dialogue and some scenes in the early episodes, that I realized would probably have rubbed me the wrong way if I watched it for the first time now.
So basically I'm hype af but also terrified that I might not have strong feelings about it. Also I highly doubt that it's a cash-grab, which is a plus. Hbu? Thoughts?
I have heard of it. But most of the opinions I've heard have been quite polarizing. I love old school romances though, so I will check it out soon. Thanks for the rec!
I already started Mob Psycho a while back and very much enjoyed it but I think life distracted me and I never finished it. It's pretty short though so I'd be happy to go back and finish it off. I've also had Terror in Resonance recommended a few times by reliable sources and just never gotten around to it for some reason... I honestly couldn't tell you why. I guess it's probably because I rarely meet anyone who's extremely passionate about it, just a lot of people who like it, but I should be making up my own mind on that. Maybe this'll be the push I need.
You seem to feel the most need to justify your recommendation of Kuroko no Basket, but that's actually probably the one you can convince me to watch the easiest. I love the shonen formula and am always looking for another good one. I usually need to get myself through the first half-dozen episodes, but then I'll be binging. I stopped around episode 5 of Haikyuu recently, but that's one I need to go back to anyways. Maybe I'll alternate episodes watching the pair of them.
I'm not sure what Shiki, Penguindrum and Nana have in common besides all being cult classics, but I was probably extremely unfair on Nana. The show itself was good, I just got to the point where Hachi's boyfriend cheated on her and all her friends were like 'it's your fault, you need to grow up' and it pissed me off so I dropped it, which is dumb because I'm always advocating for fictional characters with more moral grey and a greater spectrum of ideologies. I was gonna go back and finish it but then my friend watched the whole thing and told me that it kinda fell apart around the halfway point anyway so I just lost motivation. I put a bit more weight on word of mouth than I probably should...
Anyways, thanks for the recommendations! I'll tell you when I watch some of em.
Yeah, I look at the raws. The series ended at chapter 279. It's pretty obvious by the irregular translation releases and batch releases that they're behind. There are some sites who did some summaries of a few chapters close to the ending which showed that there was some buildup and resolution of various issues between Saiki and the others. That's why I made that comment.
I have finished the HxH anime & caught up with the manga. Unfortunately I did not record my reaction to the end of the anime...
My videos are currently private (not deleted heh), but I'm not sure if I'll be returning to YouTube.
Stay warm this winter and best wishes.
