I just finished Made in Abyss season 2 and honestly both seasons and the movie were kinda boring to watch because the story is lacking. Season 1 was the better one since atleast it had some adventure in it. The OST and animations/art is all great tho. I feel like that was the only thing that made me keep watching it.

I hope none of this comes off as rude, but I still felt the need to say something. It is clear you are not even that big of a fan of the manga, but as a fan I felt you didn't give the anime a fair chance.

Having read the Manga to Made in Abyss I actually think the anime captures Made in Abyss better than the Manga. The manga is extremely fast paced and has a lack of tension. Also such a shame you skipped on the dub. Go watch episode 10 with the Japanese voices. The performance is wonders better. Not sure why you didn't want children to act like children though.

The fact you said the music didn't have much work put into it showcases your lack of research of the soundtrack in general. It also doesn't take in effect the fact the music actually feels hollow sometimes. Which was on purpose to create a sense of isolation in the abyss. You also criticize the opening, without paying proper attention to the lyrics or the fact the two main characters sing it. The sound is supposed to be deceiving and it works quite well. This is something even the manga does with its art style. The art style is overly cutesy and gives a contrast to the abyss. You didn't even talk about the incredible sound design. There is almost no stock sound effects in the entire show. Which most anime rely on.

You also say the creatures are designed so poorly yet give no examples. If you are talking about say the Hippo creature that was done by Kou Yoshinari, and it is just a distinct style he has. But saying some have had no effort is just wrong. https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/198280

Anyway those were just a few complaints about your review I had. Overall I have most all of the manga and watched all of the anime that is out now and honestly the anime is both more gruesome and hard to watch then the manga is to read. To me it elevated the source beyond any manga I have seen.
