I'll be constantly scrapping the MAL database for dub updates. So a single scrape of a forum pages is so quick there's just no reason not to do it once per hour and users will get your updates just a bit faster.
So you would prefer if I wouldn't mention you? Or I can and you are not against it?
I've added a script that checks your forum page and it already added 139 anime dubs to my ~4000 list (here). That means that those 139 anime did not have an English VA attached to the Main Character, but your page did have them. I will set up this script to run once per hour and automatically update the database and I wanted to credit you. Could I write:
English dub database is updated with new releases by using Kenny Stryker's forum post
Oh no that's exactly what I need. I've already created an automatic MAL scrapper and have a pretty good database here: https://github.com/Joelis57/MyDubList
What I really need is to get the newest up-to-date data automatically in the database and your forum looks perfect for that. Just to be sure: if you add a link in the forum post, then that means that that anime has an English dub, correct?
Hey,
A quick explainer on why I'm creating it. You probably know that there's already a database and a tampermonkey script called MAL-Dubs. I wanted to integrate that into an open source Android app and did exactly that here: https://github.com/JICA98/DailyAL/pull/59
The issue is that the creator uses the most strict open source license which only allows to use his database and icons for others very strictly open source projects. That Android app allows anyone (even big companies) to use their code. For example if MAL wanted to use that database, they couldn't. So I cannot use that database in that app. Just to be clear, me and the MAL-Dubs developer are on good terms and I am really grateful to him for all the work he has done.
So I decided to create a dub database myself with a few things that make it better (in my opinion):
1. It supports all languages supported by MAL.
2. I created a browser extension with a single click install in the Chrome Extensions instead of a tampermonkey script. (Didn't release it yet, but it's almost done).
3. All other apps can integrate and use this database.
tl;dr I'd really like to use your forum post to update this database with recent releases automatically every day. Could I have your permission? Also I noticed that if an anime has a dub, then it has a URL link. Can I assume that?
Thank you so much for all the hard work you've done!!!
I was wondering if you knew anything about a Hibike! Euphonium (Sound! Euphonium) American English dub? MAL has English language VA's assigned to the 4 main characters (like Erica Mendez voicing Kumiko Oumae), but I can only find the subbed version. Has an English language dub been confirmed, or been scheduled for release?
Thanks for the quick response Kenny. Can I hope the MP4UPLOAD player will be restored soon? I prefer to download episodes and more importantly, MP4UPLOAD sometimes include translations for written Japanese texts. It would a shame to not have that. Thanks.
Thanks for letting me know about that. I think I'll end up completing it dubbed now as it's not too long to wait, and there's a definite date to look forward to.

Or something like that?

You know I have been seeing your thread since 2017. And I'm very surprised that you're still keeping it up. I mean it's been so long!
Just wanted to drop a good work note.
Have a good day!
