Wow! That’s really interesting ^_^—especially since I never even imagined there would ever be anime on Disney+!

Regarding reading, I recently finished the two volumes of Danganronpa Zero (I’ll soon finish all the games, leaving only the Danganronpa 3 anime series to watch—I won't list the specific titles as it would take too long, but in short, the ones that conclude the story, at least as far as I know). However, I’ve recently finished—or am close to finishing—my top 5 favorite reads; I won't necessarily list them in order, but here they are:

1. Berserk (manga): It is hands-down my favorite work of fiction; I absolutely loved it. Also, even though I’m not usually the type to get emotional over a series, the events of the "Eclipse" kept me up all night after I read them—it’s the only time a story has affected me that deeply (not to mention that Griffith is probably the most evil character in all of manga/anime fiction). I also enjoyed both the 1997 anime and the film trilogy (with the last movie being my favorite), though I felt the 2016–2017 series was very poorly executed;

2. I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream: A very cruel story about an AI named AM. It’s the shortest entry on this list—taken from an anthology—spanning only about 14 pages, so it took roughly an hour to read in full;

3. All Tomorrows: Very similar to *I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream*, featuring incredibly cruel antagonists known as the Qu;

4. Blood Meridian: Like All Tomorrows and I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, this features a truly cruel antagonist. AM, the Qu, and Judge Holden arguably make up the top three most evil characters across all fictional universes; like AM and the Qu, Judge Holden is profoundly evil and cruel;

5. The series of books A Song of Ice and Fire (Or how i like to name to bring attention: The books of Game of Thrones , because in this way everyone knows i speak about Game Of Thrones), I didn't watch the series, but I read the books and I really love it, is very similar to Berserk, having a very cruel universe.

I know, maybe these books or stories are quite intense, but this is my style.

But I am also very interested in any kind of philosophy, psychology, logical or Horror Books, so if you have any suggestions plz tell me , because i would love to hear!

I started it yesterday & though I'm still adapting to the Sci-Fi setting, I can say that it has a message to deliver.

I'm glad you gave Little Nightmares a chance 😍. I wrote a whole theory on the fandom site about a character in this game that everyone thought was evil & I called that character "a victim". Everyone wanted to oppose me in the beginning, then with every sequel the game drops, everyone saw that I saw it coming from far & beyond. This is how much I love & understand this game. It's really something else to me.

BTW, the original studio developers "Tarsier Studios" left Bandai Namco on the 3rd instalment because they wanted to make the game even darker in the themes that it provides, yet Bandai wanted to keep the rating PG. So, the 3rd instalment felt a bit different from the first two. However, the good news bit is that Tarsier Studios went on & made a whole new game with the same atmosphere & made it as dark as they wanted. The game is called "REANIMAL". It's also very good & has a lot to tell as well. Thought you might be interested.

Honestly, it has become a tradition for me now to watch "Single's Inferno" every new year.
I mean, some people celebrate the new year with fireworks, while I celebrate it with watching strangers make questionable decisions about romance on a Korean Island 😂😂😂.

actually, the way i see 90s trend, i think it was more like shounen action anime and magical girl shoujo anime! big names from 90s were like dragon ball and pokemon, then there is sailor moon and cardcaptor sakura for girls, i feel like there were so many anime aimed for actual kids and young teens in 90s and early 2000s, so when i think of 90s i just think of these shounen and mahou shoujo genre, what age gap anime were you talking about im curious because i actually never heard of this?

ah yes, i heard about this, turns out this is more common than i think huh? little kids not knowing what a cartoon is, as i said before its probably neglect, parents are too busy working for a living and their children end up just manage on their own to entertain themselves, maybe he never knew that cartoon is called cartoon or maybe he never saw it, never introduced at all, its sad really, i feel bad for children like these. however i have faith still, we humans are destined to evolve, there must be something that the new generation have that we dont have, maybe they simply develop differently than us, i mean look at the time we are living in, at least in my country, when i was a kid tv were full of cartoons, now? nothing.. the toys too, constantly buying physical toys to play with is more costly than just a piece of tablet or phone, cost of living today is more expensive than back then, like back then internet wasnt a big thing and we still play using irl toys and stuff but now kids just play on their phone/tablet, games are expensive too for example roblox, even though its marketed for kids robux is expensive and there are many adults there, so yeah a lot of kids just end up watching youtube and tiktok, kids need to play something but they have nothing these days. another example even gaming console, like psp or 3ds back then it was aimed for kids, now? the consoles are aimed for adults, the switch, steam deck, etc.

i didnt know they do that, im not really familiar with korean media, i had a phase of liking kpop for 1-2 year back in 2011 but thats it i got bored after that, my favorite band was shinee, my bias back then was taemin, when jonghyun died in 2017 i felt so sad because that idol group was part of my teenage years.

I see sorry about that, things have been pretty busy for me honestly speaking. School has been kicking me in the butt, its been pretty annoying these last couple of weeks. I am trying to complete some reading from a hw assignment that I was given for a subject called College Literacy so that has been a thing and on top of that doing another class which most of the work is done in the class so I dont really have hw in that class but most of the work is just "dumb work" that you should know so Im a little set off by this class tbh. Outside of that ive been looking for a job and applying everywhere and stil nothing. The job market sucks badly unfortunately.


Yea you are right sometimes you go into it knowing its bad and thats thing you just watch it either for entertainment or just to criticize it for fun knowing in the back of your head that this anime never stood a chance to be ranked past a 6 on your anime list. Thats the thing I skip alof of anime that isnt worth watching tbh because theres so many carbon copies I dont have the motivation to eben go through 12 episodes without getting distracted or not paying attention or straight up feeling a pain to watch the rest of it. I dont like starting a series now without completing it however because its like what made me wanna choose to watch this in the first place but not finish it? Sometimes I give anime the 3 episode rule and drop it because its so boring or either there's nothing about the premise or character that stands out to me in the slightest. Welcome to the Ballroom is a series ive already seen yeah ive watched it w a friend the second time and while it was good id say its more of a 8 now that ive rewatched it then a 9. The dances are a bit like a slideshow with commentary for majority of the dances outside of a few which I kind of disliked about the series. The characters and story writing is pretty good and its heavily derailed in drama so that is something that I come to look forward to w the sports genre. I thought the actual dancing was what threw me off though the last episode was amazing w the choreography I wish they just kept it consistent and maybe id give it a 9. Neon genesis is an anime series you must check out 100% Im on ep 22 and its so well done. Characters, story writing, music, and even the deeper meaning to the premise correlates with alot of different themes that hit home but for sure give it a shot.


It does feel that way doesnt it? Adult Romance anime kind of gets lost in the loop Im gonna be honest, like not that it doesnt get acknowledged but it does seem to get swept under the rug more often times than not. I feel the adult romance anime are more slow paced and they take their precious time more often than the hs romance anime that is a bit more fast paced with their romance couples etc outside of maybe The Ramparts of ice which did a good job at giving us great character development to start the show. I just dont like how adult romance now falls into similar tropes that we have already seen and I hate reusing this series but Love Beneath the Clear night sky. They are using themes simialr to your lie in April which as you know is a classic romance anime back in the day. I think they are reusing the same premise to an extent which kind of took away the interest for me as a story overall. I liked it and the buildup and execution felt weird in the middle half to just get used as a carbon copy of some other show which isnt even an adult romance anime. That was really stupid to me to do that they could have had the series go in another direction but they didnt. Anyway I need to see more adult romance out there with great stories and great execution it doesnt come around too often.



You are correct once you watch about 2 or 3 of them a season they all have simialr tropes or simialr stories to a degree and that can be hard to get behind 100% the other genres now I feel are struggling outside of a selective few, like for ex. I feel alot of psychological thriller and maybe a few others like sci fi is very uncommon today outside of maybe a few its kinda sad.


It is and I get it I know they are trying to get the attention of the audience but at the same time for people who actually love to watch anime and are anime fans like I feel like its not sustainable enough for the overall enjoyment over other people who have invested their time with series that have great premises an great stories. I much prefer a great story over nonstop action that has no meaning behind it for ex. Solo leveling i think solo leveling is overatted it doesnt do things for a greater purpose. The premise is very bland and the mc is overpowered for no reason so it makes his wins very repetitive and predictable because you know hes gonna completely destroy his opponent so there's no stakes theres no emotional impact behind what we are watching because you know he will always win and thats been my problem w series like that. The cast is absolutely sidelined to watch him aura farming while they do nothing. It's almost like a trope he repeltiviely has to prove he's the strongest when you know already that hes the strongest.

I also do well, I enjoy my free time watching anime and reading Manga , Light Novels and Books.

For this fall i am quite excited for the season 3 of The Apothecary of Dyares and Season 2 of Black Cover because they're anime who I want to watch in the future , but I am also very excited for Dragon Ball: Berus and the next episodes from Steel Ball Run.

I'm not good with anything horror-related. I even refuse to watch horror movie trailers because the music alone scares me. 😂 I'm fine with reading horror books, though, because there's no visual and just words, so it doesn't scare me as much. Even though I've never watched any of the movies adapted from Stephen King's novels, I love reading his books.

I also dislike watching movies like Jaws, Jurassic Park, King Kong and Godzilla. That remind me I use to be very afraid of The Hulk when I was a kid. It was the year when Hulk 2003 came out. Scared the absolute pants off me and I had nightmare for weeks about The Hulk.

My siblings and I are super close to each other, so we talk to each other a lot like almost everyday. We have a group chat with just us siblings including our spouses. My parent just got my little sister a phone now since she is in middle school now, so she added in our group chat.

My parent are not that short. My dad is 6'4 (193 cm) and my mom is 5'7 (170 cm). The women in my family don't usually get any taller than 5'7, while the men in my family are usually over 6ft.

It does get harder to plan gatherings when you get older because everyone have their own life and probably have their own family now.

Actually, it is the opposite. He did not lose his own memory, but the entire world completely forgot who he was. Well they didn't forget who Spider-Man was, but they forgot who Peter Parker was. If you haven't watch the last two Spider-Man film then you might be confuse going into Brand New Day.

My parent are pretty lax about what we watch as kids. I watched a lot of cartoon, but I definitely watched a lot of shows that was also meant for teenagers. The only think I wasn't allow to watch was horror or gorey stuff because they knew that I get scared easily and would never go to sleep again.

Not just that but if you're a new fan, you get to see how anime has changed in terms of art style and quality. You can also familiarize yourself with the medium more instead of just watching new shows most of the time.

I think a lack of media literacy, anti-intellectualism, and care plays a role as well. Heck, the west has a literacy problem right now. Like, it's appalling.

Anytime I talk about media with my friends, they always go "It's not that deep bro" or "I ain't reading allat." Then they just go on their day to treat anime like your usual streaming content. I wouldn't even call them fans even though they claim to be. Like you said, if they're a fan, you would think they will take an interest to learn more about otaku culture and their origins. Or learn its tropes and history as well.

It really comes down to fear and sensitivity. The fear comes from stigmas around interactions between real people, assumptions around a link, lack of education on the topic dispelling those assumptions, and the moral panic around fiction since gaining popularity in the west. That moral panic is comprised of countless people parroting the same fears and emotionally charged accusations and opinions, and repetition itself is an extremely powerful tool for persuading someone. That phenomenon is called the "Illusory Truth Effect". A person can be convinced to believe a false statement if it's repeated to them many times, even if they knew it was false to begin with. Or you should look into the Asch Conformity Experiment. It's similar in a way that you psychologically trick yourself. With the Asch Conformity Experiment, it's more about peer pressure and what the majority believes. That can go hand to hand with the illusory truth effect since people will repeatedly tell you someone that you know is false but due to the exposure, you might trick yourself to believe it or lose to peer pressure.

As for sensitivity, I think violence was simply less stigmatized from the beginning and too far from reality for people to give as much credibility to. So it was then depicted more, people saw it more, got more used to it, and have generally become desensitized to it. Because sex is more stigmatized in the west, it is depicted less in media and it's more taboo compared to gore. People will tolerate and even enjoy various forms of "immorality" in fiction, as long as it is their preferred flavor of immorality. Violence, murder, horror games, "underage" depictions as long as the breasts are large, etc. Only the "wrongs" they enjoy are ok, and any other "wrongs" they don't like they try to declare are somehow identical to reality. Heck, I wouldn't be surprise if people go out of their way to cancel you because you have Gushing over Magical Girls in your favorites because it's "problematic." If a person really believed that something can't be shown in fiction if it's "wrong in real life" then nearly all fiction would be condemned.

Sexuality itself, even between consenting adults, still carries some pretty heavy stigmas, is very tightly regulated, and not as openly advertised in "public spaces" be it digital or physical. So we have yet to reach a point of people being as used to it, and becoming appropriately desensitized, through both a lack of expose and persistent stigmas attached to it whenever it does come up. Not to mention when people are conditioned through repeated social pressures to see fiction the same as "harming people" a lot of people will start associating them, and naturally start having the same severe responses to it. So it's a socially constructed problem from a failure of education and widespread repetition out of ignorance due to emotional distress and fear.

With all that being said, it was pretty interesting to find that the same region of the brain, down to sharing neurons, governs both aggression and sexual behavior. Even the same chemical responses that interact with our brains reward structure in the form of dopamine.

When it all comes down to it, focusing on direct harm is important. If people are going to make an argument about “normalization” or "direct harm", that would require evidence of actual effects, not just intuitive concern. This is why data and studies are so important. When there is a problem, or some sort of dangerous link, we would see a relationship in behavior. Further, we have decades of crime statistics and studies now which have failed to demonstrate a correlation, let alone a causal link, between these violent materials or interests in anime depictions and crimes against children. There are peer reviewed studies by people like Patrick W Galbraith, Yukari Fujimoto, Gemme Mestre-Bach, Christopher J Ferguson, and even therapists like April Kiduff who have given their insights on this topic.

People need to learn more about the Hays Code. It'll be better for both ends.
