This year, I didn't read much manga, but I do have some recommendations:
-Undead Unluck: Very catchy and funny. The first chapters can be a bit problematic, but things have improved a lot.
-A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School: One of my favorite manga series ever. It is hilarious. At times, it also has some problematic jokes, and the story is a slow burn and takes some time to develop, but it is amazing and enjoyable. It has beautiful art as well.
-Kono Oto Tomare: one of the most perfect manga series ever. Beautiful art, well-developed characters, and even though it is about music, you can feel everything.
-Houseki no Kuni: Breathtaking and heartbreaking. I recommend you watch the anime first, then read the colored version, and then the regular version.
About anime, I recommend:
-Dungeon Meshi: Funny and filled with adventure. Laios is one of the best main characters.
-Cyberpunk Edgerunners: A bit gory, but the final is perfect.
-Vanitas no Karte: I am currently watching it, and it is quite entertaining. The dynamic of the main duo is enjoyable.
-Romantic Killer: I feel it is a deconstruction of the romance genre. I watched by accident, and loved it.
Three of the anime I mentioned are on Netflix, by the way.
I get what you mean, but there are always chances for anime to return. I completely understand what you are saying by not wanting to have your hopes up, but an anime I enjoyed years ago, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, is coming back after 16 years.
Still, you are right, getting caught by surprise with the return is an enjoyable feeling.
I am not going to lie, I read the manga where I found them on the internet. I tend to read before buying physical volumes, as I have made the mistake of buying first, then reading second. I just need the fanbook to complete my collection of Jigokuraku, and I am also collecting the ones from Haikyuu and A Terrified Teacher at Ghoul School.
I personally prefer reading BL a bit more; I tend to enjoy the sweet and cute ones the most, but I have read some dark ones as well, though after talking with some people, I have come to know there are way darker ones.
Don't worry, we have all been kids without supervision, watching stuff that wasn't meant for us. I was the same age when I first watched Junjou Romantica, and a bit older when I watched Brothers Conflict. High School of DxD always felt like pure fan service and ecchi more than anything else. I honestly thought, lots of years ago, that it was a sequel or something related to High School of the Dead because they had High School in the title, hahaha.
I also enjoy watching romance anime, but I prefer the sweet ones. I recently watched Yano-kun, and it was so good, healthy, and enjoyable. I must say, at times it's hard to find something that isn't toxic, such as A Condition Called Love and Anyways, I am Falling in Love with You.
That is why I enjoy reading Record of Ragnarok and Majo Taisen - at times your favorite wins, at times you get your heart broken; in Majo Taisen, it's a bit harder to guess who is going to win, but in Record of Ragnarok, at times you can predict the outcome.
Same, I love when things turn for the worst, only there we can see the true potential of everyone, just like in Bleach after the Quincy invasion.
By the way, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year; may this year be one filled with health and enjoyment C:
I mean, I feel they didn't have many chances to leave, so Kiwi took the first one that appeared; it was a treacherous move, and she was responsible for the outcome, but I still can understand her to some degree.
Oh, Maine, he really went out in a dark way; he first killed Dorio and then was obliterated. I wonder if there could be a chance or way for them to recover from Cyberpsychosis. That scene where David remembered everyone who died hit me really hard.
I think in the manga, the teacher had an older brother who was completely messed up in the head, and he forced the teacher to join him in assaulting girls from their school. I think the teacher also had an ability. Still, while I do appreciate all the content getting adapted, the Erased anime was amazing. The ending song was from Sayuri, and the name is a bit long, hahaha.
Really? I was never able to like the first opening of Nanatsu no Taizai; I preferred the second one by Man With a Mission.
I am happy to hear the anime was popular in America; I mean, I know nothing is going to change as of now, Hoshiai no Sora may never return, but I am happy it was popular for a while. The story was good, and the ending was devastating; I swear to this day I hate Touma's mother.
Hmm, to be fair, ten years in anime isn't that much; I mean, look at Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2, the second season of Panty and Stocking with Ganterbelt, Hunter x Hunter, Bleach, Nube, and many more returning after a long time. I know some of them didn´t reach 10 years, but they were very close.
If you like comedy, I recommend Gintama and Iruma-kun; those were really funny, and the action moments were good as well. I don't remember many psychological anime aside from 91 Days and Psycho Pass. Maybe Ave Mujica, but it flopped a bit at the end.
In romance, maybe Yano-kun; it is from Fall 2025, and it was really enjoyable and sweet.
My favorite genres? I really enjoy Comedy, Adventure, and Romance. There are lots of anime from those genres that I love, and others that I don't, but I still prefer those types of anime.
Are you interested in Manga? I have some that are good, some still ongoing, but still good ones.
Yeah, the cough returned some days ago, but it got better after a while. It was annoying, but I survived hahaha.
I cannot complain. I have had a cough for a few weeks now, but nothing too torturous, hahaha.
Given was such a great surprise. Ritsuka has to be one of my favorite characters; I also liked Kaji, but the way he treated Haruki in the manga was a bit too much for me. Still, a great story and great character development; I love the opening song to this day. I also need to finish the series, as I just watched the anime and the first movie.
I also watched Cyberpunk with the final spoiled, but I enjoyed it so much; at times, I got lost in the technicalities and specific names, but it was such a great anime. To this day, I feel so bad about Lucy and David, especially after I read the message Lucy wrote to him in the game - You didn't take me to the moon, but you were there with me.
Rebecca is by far my favorite character in the series; she was so funny and caring. Her death was so violent and crude, it fitted the style of the story very well. In a weird way, I also have some mixed feelings regarding Kiwi; she was a traitor, but I understood the reason she wanted to leave. It's interesting how she technically got the softest death in the series.
Erased is for real one of the best anime ever - I read the anime omitted some scenes due to the number of episodes, such as the teacher's background. The ending song will forever be one of my favorites. Sayuri was taken too soon.
Yeah, I know that, but some part of me cannot completely be convinced Hoshiai no Sora won't ever come back; that cliffhanger was diabolical. To this day, I hate Toma's mother.
Aren't there chances for Ouran High School to come back? Maybe it can return in a remake; lots of anime are receiving remakes these days.
Sure, what are your favorite genres in anime and manga? I have quite a few, including good and bad, that can be catchy.
Are you interested in seasonals?
How have you been?
I really liked your Gunjou no Subete review; it was really spot on. Furuya Nagisa never disappoints.
I like your favorites as well; Given is a splendid anime, and I jumped into the manga right in the middle of the season. Hoshiai no Sora was such a great anime; to this day, I feel robbed over the second half.
