Hmm, yeah, I tend to do well with light novel adaptations or anime originals. They usually don't have the pacing problems manga adaptations do... although if the manga is far enough ahead, a studio can still pull off a well paced adaptation. Like the Hayate manga, which has hundreds of chapters. Running out of material is yet to be a problem for that.

Aw, you stopped Toradora at 13? 13 was one of my favorites.

Yeah, I don't really watch the long-runners anymore. They're too time-consuming and tend to be tedious. I prefer a show like TTGL that contains basically a full part of the story where, you know, stuff actually happens to move the plot along more than an inch, in one episode.

That's why I don't like Naruto. I actually do really like a lot of the character designs and the story plots, it's just the way it's done, the pacing, that ruins the show. If they hadn't had to slow down to wait for the manga, they could have condensed a lot of those episode down into something much more watchable to non-eight year olds. That's also the basic reason that I don't like that so much anime is adapted from manga, because it often influences the pacing. For instance, the Elfen Lied anime ended up with a frankly pretty bad ending, compared to the excellent ending of the manga. In fact, Elfen Lied should have gotten another 13 episodes - the anime often treated the early scenes much better than the manga did, artistically, such as the very beginning, which was extremely shocking and brilliant in the anime, and kinda lackluster in the manga. But then the anime stopped basically halfway through the manga - the Mariko storyline especially suffered from this - and had to wrap it up quickly in a kind of crappy, rushed way.

Hah, true enough. I suppose I watch more shows, but shorter shows (long-runners frighten me o__o).

MAL does list every single related material separately though, which adds to the count. Like for the Shana series, I've seen both seasons, the OVA, the movie, and both seasons' 5-minute DVD specials, which makes for 6 entries on MAL but really only the 2 seasons account for a significant amount of watching time, and in my mind I consider it one franchise.

Also, how we gonna handle this comment thing? Back and forth on each others profiles like we are now, leaving an odd disjointed trail of one-sided conversations for future visitors to see?

Yo! Got a MAL, I see.

It seems you haven't watched much less anime than I have, although a significant chunk of yours is Dragonball. :P
