Aww Fuga looks rlly cute lol.

It is actually an RPG about children who escaped the invasion of their hometown and now they have to control a war tank. It is about the horrors of war.

That's a lot of RPGs. I've never played Kingdom Hearts (I only know the story is a confusing mess by now, very hard to get into, and for that we on the Spanish Internet have an expression to especially curse Nomura). Neither have I played Persona, although I did play the first SMT for the Super Famicom. Never finished it, but I liked it a lot.

My favourite games are (not ordered with any thought at all):
  • Star Fox 64
  • The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls (the gameplay is trash, but the story shines by itself and that's what made me like it so much). It only came out in Japan, but it has a fan translation patch.
  • The MOTHER/EarthBound trilogy (especially MOTHER 1 A.K.A. EB Beginnings A.K.A. EB Zero)
  • The Dragon Quest original trilogy, especially II and III. I wish the stories of the games still had some connections like these did.
  • TLOZ Skyward Sword
  • Urusei Yatsura: My Dear Friends. Just a fun little tribute to the series, nothing groundbreaking.
  • Triangle Strategy. Tactical RPG with deep mechanics and a nice story. I like that you can recruit different characters depending on your convictions and I don't mind long cutscenes though it takes a bit long for the conflict to kick in. It's like a Game of Thrones RPG (I don't know anything about Game of Thrones, this is just what others say).
  • Pokémon Snap. It's technically an on-rails shooter because you aim at Pokémon with your camera while going through rails. You take photos and get points depending on how good they are, that's all.
  • Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team Red/Blue/DX, it's both a fun roguelike for beginners and an emotionally-investing story.
  • Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver. It's a remake of Gold/Silver/Crystal. This was the only time they ever managed to make the world feel alive and the post-game is like an entire second game (you visit the region and the characters from the prequel 3 years later) and though it's just an RPG, there's a bit of a sandbox feel to it, maybe because of the world and the way they make your hand-built team feel alive so you seek to spend more time with them in whatever ways you can find.
  • Pokémon Sun & Moon, mainly because of the slightly more mature story while being a kids' IP, which later got ruined by the Ultra editions.
  • Pokémon Legends: Arceus. I liked it because they finally tried something new, they finally tried to innovate and it made the traditional fanboys mad while those who were tired of nearly all the other games being the same loved it. It's still a rushed game (I have a lot of screenshots and clips of glitches, half-floating trees, and misproportioned terrain collisions) but I enjoyed the action elements mixed into it and, surprisingly, it has some vibes from HeartGold & SoulSilver, they made me grow attached to my team again. The world still doesn't feel alive enough though. I'm both hyped and sceptic about the upcoming Legends Z-A.
  • Bushi Seiryuuden: Futari no Yuusha. A really innovating platformer, turn-based (maybe action?) RPG made by the same company that made Pokémon, it's better than Pokémon will ever be. It only came out in Japan, but there is a fan translation patch.
  • Deltarune. It took some time but I think it has finally become one of my favourite games after the tone shift in the newer chapters. If you wanna play it, I suggest you buy it before chapter 5 releases next year, as it will become more expensive with each, but you won't have to pay for future chapters if you buy it now.
  • Find Love Or Die Trying. A small indie dev's first VN, it's about being stuck in a dating game show that's actually probably trying to kill you (the only modern game in this list aside from Triangle Strategy, PKMN SM, PKMN LA, and Deltarune lol. Seems as if being stuck with old media was just my thing lol)

And probably a lot more I can't remember right now because I like a lot of games.

I've been trying to get back to DQ11 with my limited time. I also have to play Fuga: Melodies of Steel. I would really feel bad about not continuing it, because it was a birthday gift from a friend. How about you?
I have a pretty long list of games that I like. I could post it if you don't mind.
Kdekalcio Aug 9, 2025 8:20 AM
I forgot exactly what they were, but they were pretty minor weren't they?

I think I heard the biggest one is at the ending of the post-game, but I don't know what it is, haven't gotten it spoiled. I've grinned everytime I catch a callback to previous games, though. Not sure if there are more but I've caught the ones for the first 4 games (well, for DQ4 I only get the early game callbacks).

I think I have around 80-90 hours in it and I'm only about halfway through the main story. I do tend to take my time in games most of the time though.

I hope you're enjoying it, I take my time too. I'm always a bit concerned when I see people who get it all out into the net immediately after a game releases. How do they do it? XD

Yeah the HD-2D remakes look pretty nice. It's a shame they had to change 3, but it being inspired by the Age of Discovery sounds pretty interesting. I'll have to check it out sometime.

If you do get to playing them, I would suggest a gameplay order contrary to the chronological one they've been suggesting for these remakes:
  • Dragon Quest I
  • Dragon Quest II
  • Dragon Quest III

According to alledged insider info that we should take with a grain of salt, there will be post-game content for DQ2 if you have a DQ3 save file. I think best idea is going back to your finished save file after playing DQ3.
The reason for this is that even though DQ3 is a prequel to these, it has a plot twist that has no significance to those who never played DQ1&2, because they have no context to understand how important it is.
Kdekalcio Aug 7, 2025 6:45 AM
Out of those three, I've only played 11. I started out with the original trilogy, then I played a bit of 4 but didn't finish it because I got stuck at one part (one friend later told me how to get through, but I just didn't get back to it XD), and later got interested in playing 11 after I heard it had lore connections to the original trilogy. Still haven't finished it due to a lack of time, though. Left off at the start of the post-game. I'm excited for the HD-2D Remakes, even though DQ3 got stuff changed up due to rating issues and for some reason they altered town names to hide the fact the story is inspired on our world during the Age of Discovery, but nothing that mods can't fix, heh.

Glad you're good. I'm fine, too!
Do you like Dragon Quest?
