No problem let me know if you need any other genres recommendation.
It’s such a shame that we won’t get any more future movies from the great master Hayao Miyazaki.
Of course, I love Asobi Asobase I’m up to date with the manga and just waiting for a second season 😣
Personally, I like anime in general, but what doesn’t really catch my attention is the mecha genre, as well as very cold characters or tsunderes 😑
And honestly at this point I’m already tired of isekai clichés.
As for ecchi or fanservice it doesn’t really bother me. I just don’t like it when it gets too close to hentai or crosses the line so I usually avoid that kind of anime.
By now, it feels pretty normal to see an ecchi scene in anime.
For example, when I watched Yuri on Ice, in the first episode they focus on Victor’s butt 🤭
Or in Sakura Trick, you think it’s just a school comedy anime, and then boom out of nowhere they start touching each other XD
Yes, I really love Death Parade!! But I put my top 10 favorites on my profile myself; the rest are in the favs section
I like all genres, but my favs are usually psychological/philosophical.
what about u?
Oh my favorite genre is romance and why do I love it? Hmm, I am just a fan of romantic stories haha.
What about you?
Oh, if you say so. Personally, I don’t really like yaoi, for some reason… but yuri? I find that VERY interesting hehe.
Yeah, let’s just say that when I’m scrolling a lot on Twitter, for some reason I occasionally run into… let’s say rather erotic yuri clips haha.
Yeah, the robot girl is gorgeous, I agree. It’s a shame the episodes are so short though, I wish we had more xD.
Exactly, but the problem is that there are very few fantasy anime like Frieren. I’d even say it’s unique in its genre, it’s incredibly well written. For me, the anime that does just as well as Frieren in its own field is Violet Evergarden. I’ve always found it deeply touching, and I love Violet, she’s my all-time favorite waifu.
No, I didn’t really know it. I’d heard about it, but never watched it. What’s it about?
Yeah… he kind of snapped because he had too much power, and then there was that whole ‘wanting to become God’ thing. Deep down, he had good intentions, but he made all the wrong choices.
Absolutely untouchable, it’s a true masterpiece.
Oh, and have you read 20th Century Boys? It’s by the same author as Monster, and it’s at least just as good. The thing is, the manga is so complex that it never got an anime adaptation, because animators wouldn’t know how to adapt it without completely losing the audience. Anyway, I really recommend it if you like reading manga.
Exactly, and that’s a lesson I actually learned through anime—more specifically Jujutsu Kaisen. Later in the manga, it really makes you understand that nothing is purely white or black, everything is made of shades of gray. In the end, everyone has their own values and principles shaped by the environment they grew up in, and everything depends on that.
Yeah, avant-garde is basically a genre that focuses more on experimentation, symbolism, emotions, and abstract ideas rather than a clear or conventional story. It often challenges the viewer and leaves a lot open to interpretation.
Oh, we’re the same then! Those are the exact same reasons for me. The human psyche fascinates me, just like psychology in general, that’s why I love this kind of anime so much.
No haha, I study computer science, more specifically Artificial Intelligence.
Oh, then I HIGHLY recommend it to you!! Evangelion is, in my opinion, the absolute peak of pure psychology. It’s not the same kind of story as Monster, but it goes even deeper, especially when it comes to depression.
Oh, and I recommend this one too, Serial Experiments Lain haha.
So, Perfect Blue is basically about identity, obsession, and the pressure society puts on people, especially idols. It shows how the line between reality and illusion can completely blur when someone loses control over their own image. The message is that when others define who you are for too long, you can end up losing yourself entirely.
Haha, you beat me to it.
Alright, I’ll give you 4 recommendations to start with:
First: Neon Genesis Evangelion. I already explained why xD.
But here’s the watch order: watch the anime first (just the first 24 episodes, not the last two), then watch The End of Evangelion, which adapts the true ending of the story.
If you want alternative endings, you can watch the last two episodes of the original anime, and also the Rebuild movies, which are a less dark and less brutal version of Eva, up to you.
Second: Welcome to the NHK. This anime literally helped me get out of depression at one point. You’ll see why.
Third: Serial Experiments Lain. I don’t even know how to explain it lol, but I think you’ll like it (I hope).
Fourth: Steins;Gate. This one isn’t purely psychological, but I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy it.
And fifth: Re:Zero. I put it this low only because I assumed you’d already seen it since it’s so popular, have you?
Honestly, a lot of anime have really touched me, it’s hard to pick just one… but I can do it by genre if you want :D
Oh… that’s an extremely hard question lol, there are so many great ones. But if I had to choose just one based on being the most complete, it would come down to Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Hunter x Hunter.
On one hand, FMA is the most complete overall, everything gets resolved in a satisfying way, the characters are incredibly well written, and the main plot is super engaging.
On the other hand, HxH is even more technical and basically flawless, the only issue is that it’s still ongoing and might never get a proper ending because of the author’s health… which is a shame.
Oh, that just means I LOVE characters with aura haha.
k-on!, non non biyori, Aria (my favourite), Hyouka is great and something a bit on the heavy side like mushishi and something a bit more dramatic in march comes in like a lion and something a bit more wholesome in buddy daddies.
Another Bocchi enjoyer, love to see it!
I like the calmness of slice of lifes, they make life slightly calm. Psychological shows the ones that arent sugar coated and have rawness are hard hitting. Mecha is just cool and hype at times, drama shows that dont overdo it in melodrama hit hard, the ones that overdo can be a pain to sit through.
What about you?.
