Loved your review on Kagome Kagome! Have you read any of the mangaka's other series post that? What would you recommend?
Rsurect Oct 3, 11:17 AM
where did you read Shoufo Naomi Yawa?
Predator_Noa Sep 11, 1:52 PM
Thanks for your answer. Then I understood and count it right. I like the manga so far and I kinda get your Recommendations on the Hi no Tori <-> Kamui Den Part.
Predator_Noa Sep 10, 2:18 PM
Hey Robinne, you are the only person I could ask this. I own the english release of Kamui Den (Vol 1 & Vol 2 which came out few days ago) and I'm not 100% sure about how to count the Chapters.
Are the overall Chapters (for example Vol 1 has Chapter 1 to 6) right or do you need to count these small chapters in-between also?
I hope you can follow my little confusian. ^^

Hi, I'm trying to start a club for critical and knowledgable anime fans. I came across your account in the "arthouse anime" club and you seem to fit the bill (Hyouge Mono and Gamba in faves!). The two purposes of the club are to foster community via the club Discord server, and to create a robust poll of the "greatest anime of all time", voted on by members in a thread on the front page of the club. Each member would post their personal top ten list in the thread, titled "Post Your Top Ten", and then eventually I will compile all the lists into a final aggregate. Here's the link to the club if you're interested: https://myanimelist.net/clubs.php?cid=92948

Yeah, I actually used to buy and read women's magazines, so I'm not comfortable with shoujo manga and josei manga being lumped together. The “Nakayoshi” you gave as an example, incidentally, was purchased monthly for at least 3 years. As for “belove,” maybe a year? I used to get them and read them after my relatives had finished reading them.

I went to a Japanese store yesterday, but the shelves that had “Nakayoshi” and “belove” were not on the same shelf, but on shelves a little farther away from each other. I've actually read both of them, but “Nayayoshi” is a magazine mainly targeted at elementary school girls or so who are reading shoujo manga for the first time. Belove” is a manga magazine that would be read by women in their 20s or older. Right now, though, it seems that the reading demographic is mostly women readers in their 40s and older.

On websites, they are sometimes referred to collectively as women's manga magazines, but Ukipedia and other sites make a distinction between shoujo manga magazines and women's manga magazines. Well, I think there are many people like you who don't particularly distinguish between the two, since some of the contents are interesting even for adults to read these days.

By the way, also on Kodansha's website,
There is also a page on Kodansha's website that distinguishes between shoujo manga magazines and josei manga magazines.

I guess they are compiling introductions for josei because the pace of manga publication is slower and the number of comics is not as large as that of shonen and seinen manga, and because there are still not many men who read manga for shoujo and josei. Well, there are some places that lump shonen and seinen manga together as a set.

Well, it seems that even in Japan, people who are not particular about it are not particular about it. If anything, I think there are more people who think that women read shoujo manga, not josei manga, as a whole. I guess I'm making a distinction because I've been buying magazines for a period of time.

As for “lady comics,” I think of them as a separate category from shoujo manga and josei manga. The definition of “lady comic” is still unclear, with some calling it a generic term for both josei manga and female-oriented adult manga, others calling it a term that refers only to female-oriented adult manga, and still others making no distinction between the two. I consider “lady comics” to be adult manga for women.

I've never heard of a josei manga calling itself “otona no jose”...that's just lame.

Thanks for the comment. Glad you gave it a quick try and read it.

I've never heard of Mari Okazaki as a popular shoujo manga artist before. I thought she was more famous as a manga artist for seinen and josei manga, or that's how I thought she was often introduced. Outside of Japan, she is popular as a shoujo manga artist - or so I thought. That's strange.

I read “Aun” in paper form. I found it in the library... also, I'm usually Japanese, so I read it in Japanese. I don't think I've ever read anything translated the other way around. Well, “Aun” is a subject that I would be a bit cautious about translating because it deals with religion, so I wonder if there are many people reading it overseas...

Odette” is a healing type of manga, so if you don't mind the beast turned human setting, I think you'll enjoy it. I think it is a good work to read as a break between serious or dark works.

Well, I'm glad if you can enjoy any of the three works I introduced.
