yeah, I really wish the team had made their own original work instead. I liked aspects of their vision, it's just not Chainsaw Man. this was a massive step in the right direction, I especially loved how the Typhoon fight started to look as insanely colorful as the volume covers.

I completely agree with you about the film approach. I keep thinking about how I'll probably be pushing 40 by the time Asa is even introduced, but at the same time... Hell has to be the best thing ever animated. that's the only chance it has to stand up to those chapters, and imax can't be beat. plus there's no way they can air a lesbian orgy on TV

honestly I'm just glad I get to be excited for the Chainsaw Man anime again, I really gave up after S1.

BROOO I was just wondering how you felt seeing your girl in theaters! ngl I was pretty disappointed by the first season, so I wasn't even thinking about seeing the movie until last week. so glad I got to see it on the big screen, it was such an incredible experience. I cannot stop listening to the soundtrack.

and nah this is round three of Eva. it really gets better for me every fucking time 🥹

oh hey! yeah, I found him around the time he was reading One Piece and Berserk, this whole thing really came out of left field. glad it seems to have wrapped up as quickly as it started, it was rough seeing everyone turn on him instantly

Yes, I love Ghibli and Gainax anime. And thanks for reading my review. As you say, the film is abstract and bizarre, and the public's opinion of it is quite divided, but it is one of my favorites. I hope it will be one of your favorites too! Last but not least, thanks for the friend request!

man, it is so good. Imaishi with freedom from broadcast restrictions is absolutely bonkers. Netflix finally validated its insistence on being a part of the industry. I was pretty skeptical about how Trigger has been taking franchise deals over more original IPs, but the results are solid.

It made me actually install the game. hopefully that won't ruin it lmao

It's been a few months since I was reading it so it's not entirely fresh in my mind, but I was loving it as much as BH for sure. Senya's great, kinda like an Akane 2.0. his relationship with the demon bros is the absolute best, and the fight against the dragon boy whose name escapes me ("I came to play with you."). Ahh and the fist guy that the dragon trains with. But Shinsuke will always be my boy.

I can't get enough of the "mythological legend" sort of tone in a story. it's so damn good.

I'm still waiting on RightStuf to send me Spirit Circle before I read that one, it's been on back order for like 4 months now. Gonna curse myself forever for not finishing Samidare and buying all of it when I had the chance, that shit is never getting reprinted lol.

yeah, considering he waited ten years I can understand the desperation. hope he learns a lesson, dreaming of the anime is better than this.

at least we have CSM anime at some point and Part 2 next week to ease the pain

bro. it's so bad. why is it so orange and brown. where are the panties. not sure I like most of the VAs either. I was willing to forgive the lack of Pillows but they're going too far!

The absolute pity I feel for any anime-onlys. I'm not sure I would even be able to appreciate how well the character development is handled if I first saw it through this.

at least it's getting me back in the mood to finally finish the last few volumes of SY.

I wouldn't really say I didn't mesh with it. Parts of it I loved, namely the character designs and the gorgeous street punk/noir/somewhat gothic atmosphere. IMO it was all bogged down by the focus on Kaneki and his angsty inner conflict, which as far as I can remember, was overly melodramatic and edgy. I really think it would have been great as a series of short arcs focused on the side characters. That was all regarding the original btw, not :re. Won't say anything about it cos you haven't finished it yet though.

Yo been a long time, apologies for the late reply, good to see you're well. As for what I think of it... pretty hard to sum up lol. Me personally, it made a strong impression right from the Makima introduction scene, she has some crazy presence. The rest of the cast are just as colourful and those small over the top things that you just don't expect (like the barf scene LOL) really combine to make it super addictive. Completely unhinged and it feels 100% natural. That vibe is one of a kind. I just finished volume 3 and more shit's going down, pretty impressive how it keeps on upping the madness.

Also idk if it's just me but the setting and art give strong tokyo ghoul vibes, although the tone is quite different.

yooo it took me three tries to read through Biscuit Hammer, but I finally finished. the themes and power/character progression all across the board were incredibly well done. I'm sold on Mizukami forever, and the fact that this isn't universally considered his definitive magnum opus has me excited to read the other contenders

I had never heard that the hope was a classic Gainax anime with the Pillows until now, so reading it fresh off of a FLCL rewatch with the OST on loop made it totally click (esp saw parallels with Eva/FLCL/TTGL).

feel any hope for the anime? I'm worried given the director and suddenness of the airing, but if it at least nails the atmosphere and emotional moments I could consider forgiving a lack of sakuga in the crazy fights

I've been doing great! Just got into University and even moved out recently as well. Things are at least going good in that department.

I've been rewatching some anime too, actually just finished up a rewatch of Fate Zero, which went great for me! What have you been getting into lately?
Azizdy Oct 7, 2021 8:47 PM
