The main thing that attracts me to an anime and really pulls me in, is the characters. If the characters suck, how can I feel any attachment to the plot? Also, I barely ever watch the dubbed version of an anime, because a lot of the original humor is lost and it's difficult to find new voices that really fit each character. Admittedly there are a few select exceptions, of course, like:
Inu x Boku SS, Kamisama Hajimemashite, Fairy Tail, Problem Children, etc.. (inuyasha’s dub makes me want to puke…. Jussayin…)
Also, as a side note, I'm actually in the process of learning Japanese! Which is part of why I typically prefer to watch subbed anime... It'll be a long road ahead!!!
