Dont force me into doing more research pls.
Do you disagree with the research done on incest?
I didnt study genetics, so I cant tell you if its true for sure. But it isnt solely based on collecting empirical data, its based on actual genetics.

It goes without saying that I generally trust scientific studies, even though I am aware of all the shit that goes wrong in the scientific community. There just isnt a better option, and I dont want to go with an agnostic stance all the time.

notice that I am all for incest. I dont argue against incest at all.

HOWEVER...
the main argument against incest is grounded on a statistical fact. You argued with semantics, basically. You eliminated the word "mutation" for example. That doesnt actually counter the argument against incest, because it doesnt adress the main problem.
Your take on genetics is useful and correct, but its just out of place. Yes, the disabilities arent mutations, yes they there would still be a chance for the child to be disabled in exogamous relationships and so on.
All that is right, but it doesnt counter the statistical fact. Incest-children are disabled more often.

I'd counter it with something else.
Something like: Parents can check before the child gets born if it will be disabled (technology, yay!)
or:
They can use a condom, problem solved (birth control, yay!)
or:
Women over 40 are allowed to have children too, although the risk for their children to be disabled is equall high (pointing to the hypocrisy of the system, yay!)

something along these lines.

Incest does not cause mutation. yeah.

but you didnt adress the first argument against incest:
"Incest-children will have higher chances of being deformed, having disabilities etc."

I am fine with english, I think my understanding is ok for the most part.
Whats your first language? Or are you bilingual?
throwaway111 Jul 17, 2014 5:07 PM
thats true.
But that doesnt change the statistical fact that incest-children are disabled more often.
Its one of the 3 biggest arguments against incest.
next to the religious and the moralityl argument.

Your argument doesnt adress any of those 3 arguments.

ok, so here I go:
It will be a short statement from my side though.

Children from incestious relationships are often disabled. Thats a statistical fact and can be explained scientifically. I did not really did my reasearch on why exactly it is that way, but it seems to have to do with the genes being too similar, which triggers some nasty effects.
Historically speaking, that was one reason why the egypt empire fell apart. The Pharaos .. well I think you know what happened.

You just stated that inbreeding is common in nature. And you talked about the whole "new traits"-thing, which is correct as well. You brought a few examples, etc.
I dont disagree with you on that.

However, incest-children are disabled with a higher probability. Thats also a fact.
So I dont really understand what your argument is

Lucky you indeed hahah, going to college does pay off if you find a decent job like yours xD

Well since I just started I just finished HTML and CSS, So i'm still quite new to all of this. I want to learn java and flash. Also mysql and will eventually move on to c and c++. Well so far it can get a bit tricky to get everything to work but eventually I'll get there. Yeah the profession doesn't sound that great but better than studying law for 3-4 years and spend the rest of my days reading laws and going to court and defend pedophiles :-P

No, I don't need any help, I just recently started web developing and thought you might be one since you said you worked with developers. Even though I don't know much about network administration seems like a cool job to have. Although from what I've googled it seems pretty simple, yet I'm sure there are a few challenges !

Hello, welcome to MAL! I saw your comments in this thread. I'm a computer science major, and was just curious about what sort of work you do. (Thinking about future job prospects haha) Have a nice day :)

Welcome to MAL :)
Thanks for the kind words in the"What do you do for work? Love it hate it?"

You said you work with computers, are you by any chance a web developer ?
It’s time to ditch the text file.
