Oh that's quite an interesting take for Macross Delta! At the very least, like you said, it's pretty easy to watch Macross Delta without seeing any of the previous entries! They do mention some kind of previous war and reparations that the Aerial Knights Valkyrie disagree with, which I assume was from a previous season, but the story is still pretty easy to follow!
And yeah, I feel that these days I've been more appreciating the diversity of mixed gender casts over a lot of the fluff that a lot of all-girl or all-boy series do (more interesting and more funny a lot of the time). Of course I still like a lot of majority male and majority female cast series as well! (Which is why I put it as just a small thing that wasn't too big of a thing)

Yeah, mostly when I say that I don't like "tournament arcs", most of the time it's ones that are in Sports and Battle Shounen anime (I guess more narrow down. I find them to be tiring and boring a lot of the time at this point. I can like them if they're not the be-all and end-all of the series. Some that I do like include Ping Pong, Uma Musume and Haikyuu (though Haikyuu is mostly because volleyball is the only sport I like watching).
Of course, tons of music anime tend to have Music Competitions, which is usually fine. But that does make sense for Revue Starlight if it's just the girls competing with each other rather than just focusing on putting on an amazing show, I might be more meh to it. Very nice to hear that World Dai Star is more "chill" in that regard! Would end up making a nice watch at the least! And of course, D4DJ had a bunch of tournament kind of things as well. They were always really out of place in that series since all the units had different genres of their music. Would be like putting Taylor Swift up against Mumford & Sons or something.

I think I'll probably put up Revue Starlight as my next choice when it comes around my turn again to choose a series to watch with my friends! This time around was my choice and I did D4DJ (I'd already seen it, one of my friends hadn't seen the anime yet but casually plays the game and the last friend knows nothing about it, aside from the fact that I play the game) so it'd be my other two friends choices next before then...

Selection Project is on the list of idol anime with my friend, but my friend hasn't been too eager to check them out right now (prefers Cute Girls Doing Cute Things shows with no conflict over more serious shows). I have been quite intrigued in Shine Post after some clips of the girls dancing went viral!

BBCode is not too bad some of it is somewhat straight forward where you usually just have box, then end it with the same thing but a "/" at the beginning to close it, so to bold something would just be the letter b in between the [] Bold Myanimelist usually has a tutorial on it in a lot of places for all the commands! (example if replying to a forum topic). I'm not a very art-orientated person so I prefer something nicely written over something that looks nice anyways!

Macross has been a franchise I’ve always wanted to check out and I kinda had it on a list of series I could watch with 2 of my friends, though with Macross being such a massive series, of course, it has been just sitting on the backlog… so I do appreciate that you recommended me something from the Franchise so I can finally get a chance to check it out! I actually did get Macross F in a previous Secret Santa event, so I suppose it was overdue.

World Dai Star is a pretty funny choice! I have a friend that I’ve been watching tons of Big Idol Franchises with (we did Love Live, Idolm@ster, Bang Dream, Zombieland Saga, and basically all the other idol series on there) and he mentioned that World Dai Star was airing, but I was like “it’s not an idol anime doesn’t count!” From what I know about the series, it seemed like a lesser popular Revue Starlight to me, I’m a bit surprised you chose World Dai Star over Revue Starlight, I guess there’s more musical numbers in World Dai Star? Definitely down to check it out whenever I get a chance to!

Of the two, I decided to check out Macross Delta, mostly because you seemed more passionate about it in your write-up! It’s a bit annoying that it’s only on Disney Plus, which I do not have, and I like watching anime on my TV so it’s a bit more difficult to get set up so I’ve been watching it a bit slowly (as of now just 5 episodes), but I’ll try my best to keep it up!
I have been enjoying the combination of idol music and robot battles so far (and of course, the dancing robot!) The anime is still in the intro stages though, the main plot only recently just kicked in and it’s mostly just been a lot of training! The characters are a bit basic so far, but it’s still quite early so I’ll see how things go later! I do feel like I’d get a bit more if I had watched one of the earlier Macross (F or the OG) first, but I guess when I do get to watching the entire franchise with a friend and rewatch this one, I’ll see how that compares! I did see a reference to Macross 7, which I recognized by appearance but didn’t really get the context!

Oh I see that this was your first time doing the Secret Santa! Well I hope that you had a decent time trying to find something for me to watch and that you got something awesome to watch in return! ^_^

P.S. I see that you are a fan of Uma, Bang Dream and D4DJ. I mostly play D4DJ though and only Uma and Bang Dream just a little bit.

I'm pibu_zarger on amq. I found one of your comments on the manga Dorei Yuugi on another site. You described the ending as "bad and unsatisfactory ending…left with many more questions then answers." I agree that the ending is bad and there are a lot of ways it could be improved upon. I don't know if you know this but there is a sequel to this manga called Dorei Yuugi Guren. I didn't see it on your manga list and most people don't seem to know about this sequel. Guren might be more satisfying and answer those questions you have.

Currently only 8 chapters have been translated and the rest won't be translated for a long time because the last update was back in late 2021 and DMCA takedowns removed all of the translations in the massacre. There is also a sequel to Guren called Dorei Yuugi Didi which hasn't gotten gotten any translations and has been on hiatus since late 2023.
