Why don't you start reading your favorite anime's manga?
Since you know the story well, and the characters, maybe you can compare to see which you prefer. You may find some unknows scenes, since the anime normally cuts the unnecessary parts.

I'm sticking to reading now, since half of the day it's me playing Ace Attorney, Shovel Knight or ZOE. Haha (i've been catching up with game conferences too)

Half of my family lives here so I basically have to visit here 5/6 times a year.

I have no idea why you don't read manga like... half of the animes you've seen are far worst than the manga. Manga is almost every single time better than the anime. Since the anime is an adaption from the manga, mostly of times of course, not always.
