Been about three years since I did anything with this space... I used to write here all the time like a diary blog or something. That was nice, so let's put something new here.
So I checked out the Digimon TCG recently and I quite like it, and the card art is very nice, so I ended up watching some of the original show. So far, it's a whole lot better than Tamers was IMO. Tamers was sorta a drag idk, I tried to watch it about three different times but could never really get into it. In retrospect, the pacing seems slow and the cast was small, and I don't think I liked the characters so much overall. Pretty mediocre stuff for me. I like the original season because the pacing is quick and breezy, the cast is quite large especially for an adventure show like this, and the continuous nature of the plotline is engaging. I like the setting a lot more as well.
Having a group of seven kids wandering around with seven partner Digimon does a lot for the show, I feel. Fourteen whole characters all hanging out and interacting every episode is a crazy big group of protagonists. Pokemon had like four if you count Pikachu, so fourteen is pretty enormous really. There's lots of different dynamics and tons of potential there. Anyway I love Mimi and I love her cool cactusmon. Blonde coolguy (Matt in EN) is a strong character as well, and pink bird Piyomon is good. Little yellow flappymon is very very cute, and Jyou's watery digimon is surprisingly sassy. Overall a lot to love here. A very fun show to watch before bedtime.

I've not been been watching too much anime stuff specifically, and I never did watch tons like some on this site, but I've been heading into Local Big City to pick up some manga from the bookstore now and then. I bought and read all of CITY, which is a criminally underrated, absolutely excellent manga that was just delightful more-or-less all the way through. Vol 1 is a little weaker than average, but that's quite common with manga I would say. There's one towards the end, I think vol 11, which I wasn't that into; it's all about some side character going to an unrelated island and having a dumbass adventure that accomplishes nothing, and everything goes back to normal at the end. My least favourite volume for sure, the volume dedicated to the big race was much better, it actually had the whole cast involved, like the characters I actually enjoy seeing were there instead of not there.................. Helps a lot IMHO
Go read CITY it's phenominal. If you like Nichijou's sense of humour and character writing and design, it's very similar in feel but it has a real plot with progression and development, and it's lots of fun!
When I'm in the bookstore I like to try and pick up something that seems cute that I don't know much/anything about. That's how I ended up reading My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness.
It was a good, sorta breezy but sorta heavy read, very very personal, like INCREDIBLY personal, I don't know how she managed to draw, write, publish something so raw and bare. Incredibly brave of her. I'd recommend it if you're interested in something like this, with a title like that, and you're ok with reading about people's real depression and anxieties and personal struggles. It doesn't DWELL too much or get you down in a big way, I wouldn't say, but it's all there, so it's up to you.
Another thing I picked up on a whim because it seemed cute was I Don't Know Which is Love.
This is a lighthearted yuri harem story about a girl in college trying to get a girlfriend, but she ends up catching the attention of five different girls. I only read the first volume but it was a fun read, I enjoyed it and I'd like to see where it goes. The girls are cute and the main character is also cute, and the book is generally also cute. A nice book, the girls will probably get really jealous soon though, so I'm expecting some drama and some heartbreaks. The main girl is pretty relatable, she really likes them boba and she calls one of her teachers a mommy. She gets sniffed on the armpit, I was surprised. Also there's reference to lewd ASMR rp which similarly stunned me. Sorta like in CITY when they started talking about vtubers basically, sorta. Just really surprised this more obscure stuff is being put into real books that I end up reading.

Well I dunno how much I wanna get into it all, it's sorta unrelated entirely, but lately I have been watching some good old movies I'd never seen before. Like I watched Die Hard for the first time, and it was amazing and very good. The actors were very likeable and the performances were great. It was fun to watch throughout.
I watched Starship Troopers and liked it a lot, that movie looks seriously stunning considering the time it was released. The CG looks good now, still, which really is fantastic. The aliens have real weight to them, and the actors never seem like they're pretending to interact with an invisible computer drawing you know?? Very impressive. The characters are near-all likeable and you want to see them succeed. Nobody's just like some obnoxious dickhead, even the one guy you're not supposed to like isn't like totally infuriating. Fantastic sci-fi military movie, good satire stuff as well. The humour is bleak and funny, and well done. The future military aesthetic is good and chunky and believable.
Watched the first two John Wick movies, both very fun. I liked the second one more than the first, and I'm eager to get around to seeing the third some time, I think it should be a fun watch if it goes how I think based on the ending of the 2nd. Keanu Reeves is a great action actor, and fun to watch. He brings this distinct awkwardness to social scenes, like John Wick is this incredible larger-than-life super assassin man, but whenever he has to like TALK to someone he's very hesitant and not so sure of himself. It's fun to pick up on, and it's quite different from a John McClane.
Trying to keep these brief, but speaking of Keanu Reeves, I did see the first Matrix, and it was also very good. Very floaty action, but fun to watch. It's fun to see the thing that inspired everything, after the fact, if that makes sense. The second one was a pretty big letdown, like it just didn't need to happen, so I'm skipping the third because who cares. 2nd was ok but not really good at all. Like maybe a 4/10, I think I disliked it more than I liked it so I think it must sit below a 5. I dunno, it's not like it was BAD bad, just that the letdown was so ehhhhhhhh..... Some of the concepts were good, but it wasn't worth it.
I think that'll do it for this section for now. A bit much overall here.

Finally, outside of a dropdown, I'd like to say that I like to play fighting games a lot, and I've made a little channel on YT where I upload fun sets that I play in Guilty Gear Strive. I'd be very thankful if you decided to check out the channel HERE at ChillMitch69. Mitch has got your back when it comes to them fights games. Thanks for reading any of my nonsense, it's pretty fun to scribble down some thoughts about media here from time to time.
