Yeah, I definitely will. Still, I haven't even watched the anime yet, so I think I'll do that because it's been a while since I read the manga.

Also, a bit too late, but happy birthday. Hope you had a great day.

I'm thankful that we're getting a CEO next year, although I'm not sure how it would go when Doug Bowser is leaving soon. The prices of the Switch 2 are just off the charts, and I say this as someone who recently bought the console itself alongside a physical copy of Silksong, although I haven't started that one yet. Yep. All while having the shittiest storyline of any video game. Hello Neighbor just can't stop getting milked, huh? 2 is objectively better, but that's not saying much anyway.

Just saw that you're reading the LoGH novels. How are you there?

Good. Although I just stayed at home, I had some good fucking food.

Thank you, Alice! Happy birthday to you too!

I had to look up a playthrough of BotW's puzzles because the ones I tried to solve were complicated. I guess you can say that I had a skill issue (ironic given that I'm a Fromsoft and modded Terraria veteran), but those puzzles are just not fun. That's true. Despite it being a flawed and not-a-fun game overall, there was still some fun involved, and all of its problems are not too severe. Oh lord, don't get me started on Hello Neighbor. It's been said that it can be beaten in around 1-2 hours, but from my experience, it took me 40+ fucking hours. That's because the puzzles are completely cryptic and artificially difficult. They're nigh-unbeatable unless you look up a playthrough, and when you do, they become a complete joke. : /

I'm with you on that one. A game can be too long when either the overall length of a game (especially regarding main content) is bloated, or the game seems long enough (probably around 20ish hours), but the amount of quality found is quite little. That's how I felt with Breath of the Wild. The game is long, but for an open-world game, there's not much distinct content to be found, leading to repetition and/or boredom.
TheScarletCutter Sep 23, 4:50 AM
That's going to be one hell of a journey, isn't it? I'll keep that in mind.

That got me thinking, what do you think would be an ideal game length?
TheScarletCutter Sep 23, 1:03 AM
I see. I wanted to get into it right away, but I was making sure when, especially considering the total runtime after seeing various playthrough videos of the game (didn't actually watch, only saw the video duration).
TheScarletCutter Sep 22, 9:21 PM
How is Silksong going for you? I have a physical copy of it, but haven't tried it out yet.

The real problem with Bloodborne's visuals isn't really the low fps, which I don't mind at all for older games (although Bloodborne can't use that excuse), but actually the contrast in some cases. Paired with the fps issue, it becomes a bit hard to see things coming, especially if it's against a spammy boss. But hey, I'm not one to bash on a game solely because of its visuals, and my real problem with Bloodbornre is mainly some elements of the gameplay, such as many bosses' design, and that the narrative is rather empty when compared to other Souls games. It's honestly great, but Fromsoft has done way better. Lady Maria is actually one of the few bosses that I've actually had some genuine fun with. Those bosses include Gehrman, Mergo's Wet Nurse, and Ludwig's second phase. The other bosses were either annoying or just underwhelming. I remember dying like 50 times to Orphan of Kos then leaving the game for almost a year, and when I loaded back my save, I first tried him.

I have the same opinion as you on the aesthetics. Elden Ring's are as majestic as they are gruesome, and the story kinda reads like a grand mythology, which I absolutely love. Meanwhile, I do prefer Dark Souls' more grimdark and final vibes. Oh, Paladin's set. The only reason I didn't think about it is simply because I've never seen it in the game. I think I probably never found it. But even if I did, I'd probably have stuck to either the Elite Knight set or Black Iron set. And I totally see what you're talking about now lol. Moonlord himself was pretty disgusting, even in Expert Revengeance, but what came after him was actually peak. I finally see what you meant with Ceaseless Void... That thing was cancer. But then I stopped moving and it rapidly became one of the easiest bosses. Still very cool-looking, though. Now as for DoG, it actually took me 53 attempts to beat him. It reallly felt like a slap on the face when compared to the previous stuff, which was mildly difficult at best. Next is Yharon, I guess... Hopefully he's not as painful.

I honestly don't get the whole labeling things as elitist stuff, and most of the time it's just done by people who are salty about others' viewpoints... Having your own opinion doesn't make you an elitist, but gatekeeping sure does, and I can't argue with that.

Damn, sorry for the misunderstanding lol. I just assumed it was in order of preference because of the signs you used. My bad. I actually got Bloodborne + the DLCs for my birthday a few years ago. I honestly like Dark Souls a lot more, though. My only real disappointment with Bloodborne is the low fps and bad contrast sometimes. It's amazing at what it does, but I do think it's the most overrated one of the bunch. Still, it has my favorite version of the Moonlight Sword, and it was a joy to use. Lady Maria is also my favorite boss in the game, followed by Ludwig, but Moon Presence as the final boss is just perfect the way it is and very conclusive. One of my favorite video game endings for sure. Usurpation of Fire is a close second for me.

Totally. Dark Souls and Bloodborne are the sources of some of my favorite character designs ever. I'm very into the grimdark aesthetic, so that stuff is made for someone like me. Elden Ring designs are also peak but don't quite capture the same aura of edginess as DS and Bloodborne lol. Curious about your favorite sets, by the way. Mine are Alva and Drakeblood from DS, classic Hunter and Crowfeather for Bloodborne, and Banished Knight (unaltered) for Elden Ring. 2D Souls game sounds neat, and it's why it's been on my radar for literally years now, but I'm planning to finally get Hollow Knight and Silksong sometime very soon As for Calamity, I've only just entered hardmode, with the most recent boss I defeated being the twins. So I have no idea what awaits me in the future, but so far, I have to say that Expert Revengeance is easier than vanilla Master. It's a very slow playthrough since I spend most of my time building and exploring, but I like it this way.

Oh, how's English? I'm in business management and it's kinda tiring lol. Still very interesting, though. Also, I totally agree with your viewpoint and I share the same opinion. I'm very into slow burn narratives myself, but the way Fata Morgana does it is unlike anything I've ever seen before.

Oh, very nice to know Utena is the one you consider the best out of them. It's also the one that interests me the most, so that's good to know. Very cool that you're playing Bloodborne, too. The Lovecraftian and Gothic aesthetics are stunning and I absolutely love the twist of cosmic horror; it's a concept that I adore but is sadly quite underutilized in works, and if it is, it's just not done well most of the time. At least from what I've seen, that is. Are you enjoying it, by the way? Have you played other Souls games before? I'm also planning to start Hollow Knight soon (which I've been "planning" on starting for years now) with Silksong coming out and all. As for me, I've only been playing Terraria Calamity in my free time lately, honestly. Also watching a few Netflix shows here and there.

I'm currently on Door 5 of Fata Morgana, and I have to say, I love the writing, which downright reads like a Shakespearean tragedy, as well as the beautifully executed mystery, which is really like puzzle pieces slowly coming together as the story progresses. Many works fail to nail it this aspect that well. The psychological and character work department is just as amazing too, honestly.

Oh, no worries at all. We all have our personal lives and I've also been busy with college myself. I wish you good luck this year.

Yup, I definitely planned to watch those a long while ago but I still haven't. Just like most things in life, I keep procrastinating. Not to mention, I've mostly been playing video games nowadays, but I'm also progressing on Fata Morgana, even though I'm a slow reader. I see you love that series, so I'd be glad to discuss it more once I complete it.
