I like a good anime. It helps escape the everyday ups and downs. Of course, with the exception of Hotaru no Haka, that movie is the very root of Depression.
I love a good story with a considerable amount of comedy and mystery and with a finishing touch of action and drama, or any anime that keeps my interest. A close-to-perfect anime in my book is one which feels whole (a sense of completeness) with some numbered flaws but not enough to ruin it.

SPOILERS

TIME SKIP "Rin confesses that she had feelings for Daikichi, and of course he freaks out. At the end of the fiasco (which is after Rin graduates) Rin becomes very adamant about staying by Daikichi and taking care of him for the rest of his life. And they decide to get married"

Well, Deathnote deoan't have a set antagonist and I believe you should really give it a try to the end. It's one of the best psychological mystery you will ever see. I understand your view after dropping it after L's death but don't judge till the end.
