my opinion on manga is that
its mostly pretty bad
and none of it is perfect
this is my favorite garbage
FYI if i finished something, am bothering to rate it, and didn't give it a 5 or lower i probably liked it
a 10 means there is literally nothing i would change about it. I wouldn't change anything. If i was given the option to change it - take something out, add another chapter, mess with the script or the style - i would flat out refuse to touch it. this doesnt necessarily mean it's a 'masterpiece', but it means i think it's untouchable, or at least i think only the author could imagine how to improve it.
a 9 either means there is something, ANYTHING i can think of that could have been done better, or that i have some kind of reservation, that keeps it from being a 10.
An 8 is basically a 9, except where the 9s blew me away or stood out to me the 8s were maybe just a really enjoyable romp, or maybe they stood out but their flaws stood out to me, too
a 7 means i really liked it or felt like it was playing around with some really good ideas but thought it was significantly flawed, or i thought it was well-executed and had some fresh ideas but was otherwise pretty 'safe'. this is where the bulk of the anime that i really loved go, including many of my favorites.
if i gave it a 6, i might have enjoyed it but i probably thought it had some serious foundational errors or there was something i really hated about it; or maybe i thought it was decently well-executed but very derivative, or i might have found it average and forgettable except for a specific quality that warrants consideration.
if i rated your favorite thing a 5, don't worry! that usually means it didn't stand out to me or do anything that had any kind of impact on me; or maybe it was otherwise so flawed that i might not want to recommend it to anyone.
any score lower than a 5? varying degrees of i hated it, didn't find much redeeming about it, and overall i thought it was the worst garbage.
hope this helps
if your favorite has a 2 or a 1 we probably should not interact (it's for the best)
if i didn't finish it but gave it a high score, it probably means i binged it, ran out of chapters, took a break to let the chapters pile up, and haven't gotten around to picking it up again yet.
Oh then in that case I should give you a fair warning there IS nudity for main girls in the story. I wouldn't go as far to say that there is explicit NSFW but it isn't exactly a pristine GL. Theres also a character in the story that is an adult vampire that states to have an interest in younger girls so watch out if that isn't your sort of tea.
Also I don't have a preference for vocals btw! I also enjoy listening to instrumentals and anything inbetween!
Naw I get it. Some cards I know I won't be able to complete so I won't bother on their entries. Like High Priestess, where you have to read a doujinshi (couldn't it just have been an ecchi or something? and why is it on the Priestess card?)
Better to focus on cards one at a time than all at once.
Also there is always the MRC staff joker cards depending on your difficulty.
LOL I've already started! I have a couple volumes IRL and I've started reading a couple chapters past vol. 6! I really like it so far, it adds a cute twist to a classic romance trope.
Huh, I did not catch that earring thing, then again I've never worn them myself, and the only woman I've lived with was an absolute unit who would fall asleep without taking off her accessories or glasses or the casual clothes she's spent the entire day wearing or turning off the laptop, so my understanding of the proper etiquette is severely lacking in this part.
I do notice when characters go to bed wearing both the pajamas and underwear though, like, why would you do that to yourself.
As far as scores go, I don't see anything objectionable about rating it higher, even though I'm not gonna do that myself.
It is a neat little story without any major drawbacks and it's enjoyable to read, but when trying to come up with a single word to describe it I end up with "okay" or "fine" rather than "good."
Yeah if you hover over the manga section of the website it should have the old 2025 challenge for you to take a look.
I didn't participate last year. Looked kind of complicated, plus I was late.
Should be a good tool to read outside of your comfort zone or something like that.
YES PLEASEEEE! I really like emo, hardcore, punk, grunge, etc. I also don't mind varieties of indie pop, electronic, or just indie in gen! Send anything my way, including things outside of my preferences; surprise me! If you want any recs lmk!
Hey anen0me, have you seen that suspicious looking thread in the manga forum? The one titled "pocket sand" ?
I think that's suppose to be the work in progress 2026 manga reading challenge. I'm looking forward to it.
Are you planning on participating?
Oh it has nothing to do with bread it just happened to be what I was eating while reading it. I'd have had the same reaction with everything else ^^' It funny to see Manhole in someone's list since it's relatively unknown.
Mixing sweet and disturbing stuff is always good so it makes I Love Amy more interesting to me. Kakeochi Girl looks like it's more on the realistic side and I'm pretty open minded so I'd give Wanitokagegisu a fair chance.
They're short so even if one is a dud I didn't spend too much time on it. I've got this weird tendency to pick up long running manga. Probably because they are well known.
