If you watched season 2 of Vinland Saga expecting action, you completely misunderstood season 1. The entire point of the show was to show how devastating and destructive war/violence is to the lives and psyches of our main characters. In order for any character development to occur, they would have to realize this and try to transcend their societal expectations of being a Nordic warrior. The show didn't actually change, it followed the natural conclusion of the events of season 1. You just didn't understand those conclusions and so therefore your expectations of season 2 were insanely deluded
