Got it. I'll save it for later, give it a read and then I'll hit you up with my thoughts.
Arisu_02 Yesterday, 1:49 AM
I'm glad you think so too... I'd find it the most comfortable place. I'm sure I'd love green elements and decors as well. As for other common rooms, I wouldn't like Ravenclaw one because it's too bright for me, Hufflepuff seems to be a bit too cozy and for Gryffindor, I just hate red. I'm rather an inside type of person, but sometimes it's good to go out, I think if I were at Hogwart or in magic world generally, I'd like to explore it a bit but there are many nice places to rot there too... Personally, I don't really like Hagrid and his hut, I'd rather invite you to explore Forbidden forest together, especially when it's dark or investigate Resctricted section of library. By the way, Hogwarts library is a place I'd spend lots of time too. The Hogwarts grounds, especially near lake seems to be a nice spot too. Ohh, I know, we could hang out in chamber of secret too. By the way, what would be your favourite place in HP world bit except Hogwart? Hogsmeade is an obvious and necessary choice, I love this place and could live there in the winter but I'm also interested in Godric's Hollow, Diagon Alley and Grimmauld place.

I get it and it makes a lot of sense. Honestly each time I read books I like different volume most. Besides, first one is nice because it's very nostalgic and without it, there wouldn't be next volumes. Yes, I think Snape is the most interesting HP character, most contradictory, ambiguous and mysterious (however not that much in the end) and it may sound weird but I like his personality. That's totally right about McGonagall, at least she doesn't favours Gryffindors like Dumbledore does. And she's one of the best teacher in the whole series and the one I would be fond of. As for teachers, Lupin is fine too and underrated but Flitwick. Too bad we don't know that much about some other teachers and their way of teaching. By the way, what's your favourite subject at Hogwarts?
Yeah, the scene from Deathly Hallows was really emotional and I got to like McGonagall even more. Speaking of, are you familiar with Minerva's story, especially past? It was once published by Rowling on Pottermore but I don't know if it's still available. But her story was one of the most interesting from all HP characters, also a bit sad. And I really, really like her.
Rip all actors from HP that are already dead, it was so heartbreaking hearing about all of them and I don't want to hear any more....

It's fine, personally, I read whole series few times, like 5 or 6, but it doesn't stop here. Maybe I'll read it next year because I read it in 2024 last time. And every time I read, I discover new things and same feelings. Did you also read Cursed Child? Man, I hate this THING so much, I regret reading it and regret it ever was created.
As for me, I'm pretty neutral because original movies will always be original and the only ones for me and nothing will change that. I'm also fine with just books so I don't really look forward to it and even if it's bad (which is possible), I'll think about it as a kind of fan made series. But if I have a chance, I'll watch it. However I saw first shots from it and it doesn't look good, especially characters in costumes, and set design, it just looks very unnatural. So you feel similar to me, but I can tell you, for us, the movies will always be real and first HP movies, besides we always have books.

I totally agree, especially with the part that I prefer writing in English when it comes to more serious, deep or private things. I'm not that comfortable writing in my native and any other language! I mean, since few years, I've been mostly using English anyway, so I'm very used to it and writing in it feels most natural. It's also easier to share my feelings this way.
I wouldn't be able to say lots of things I wrote.
If you're interested in improving your writing and English skills, I know best app for that, but it might be addictive in some way and time-consuming but it's totally worth it. Thanks to that app, I've made lots of friends from various countries and just, my mind became much more opened. It's called Slowly, I'm saying in advance. I love the app with my whole heart.

Thanks for appreciating my feelings again!
As for endings, you're right, I mean, happy endings are fine, but they're too common, it's actually very rare for any other ending to happen. So, I actually like sad or any other type of bad ending. Because it makes me impressed by the author's courage and creativity. I know only like 2 or 3 series with bad ending but I won't say not to make spoilers.
Sometimes happy endings are also unnatural, especially when the book was dark, brutal or shocking and suddenly everything becomes alright in the end. It's also not best when all characters survive. Speaking of, before last volume of HP appeared many people thought someone from golden trio will die, and when I was reading it, I thought about it too. People were saying, after ending that Harry for example should have died to show that fight or being a chosen one has actual consequences. It's be brutal but okay as for me.
There might be something wrong with me but I love when a book or show is emotional to me or hurt my in some ways. You can't forget it then and it leaves a permanent mark on you. Especially when I truly relate or experience everything with characters. (◡_◡)

Hm, So You're focusing on the subtlety and emotional depth creating a world where appearances are deceiving and every character has a hidden darkness. It’s like peeling back the layers of a beautiful, fragile surface to reveal the complex, often tragic truths underneath That reminds me Aisha manhua the manhua has a lot of extremely heavy topics( explores mature theme like incest, csa, psychological trauma)that are covered in a fairly explicit manner that I feel a need to warn people about as I went in there completely clueless and was left with my jaw dropped several times throughout the reading experience.

feel free to share if you want could be fun to see what you’ve got.
Arisu_02 Jan 18, 11:41 PM
I'm glad you like the way this conversation and acquaintance goes and I would say I feel exactly the same. I know quite a lot of HP fans, but not many of them are Slytherin though it feels like many fans are actually in this house. I'm also happy you didn't mention two other houses because I literally don't think I have anything to do with them, BUT I like Hufflepuff residents. And obviously my least favourite house is Gryffindor. And it's also great Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff are common among fans because these houses were sadly very underrated in the series. I honestly hated how Gryffindor was praised and Slytherin was hated in the books.
Do you also think you'd love Slytherin common room? Even if I wasn't in Slytherin, I'd love it the most because it's probably quite dark, atmospheric and you could observe the lake.
You surely have great taste, third book was actually my favourite one for a long time, especially in the beginning of my potterhead carrier. And also third movie, but movies are something different. Anyway, it's hard for me to say which volume is my favorite currently. I also loved Half-blood prince for a long time, because I think it's the darkest volume and there's lots of potions hehe. Honestly now I can't choose between third and sixth volume. These are rather the most darkest ones as you mention also because of dementors... And I liked Marauders story too... But actually fifth volume is amazing too, because it's the thickest haha, and besides, there's just a lot info about magic world, politics, order of the phoenix, grimmould place and all. As for favourite character, it's also pretty hard to choose one. But there's one character I was obsessed with from the very beginning, till now and it's Snape, surprise, surprise! I could say a lot, but mostly, I quite relate to him and I love his vibe. Oh and, I'll leave HP books a little bit now, but surely one of my favorite character from this whole world is definitely Grindelwald. Besides, I always liked Luna, Draco, ginger twins, McGonagall, Lupin, Hedwig, Bellatrix, and lately I got to like or rather understood Dumbledore and knowing he's actually not that positive character makes me like him more.

Yeah, well, some books don't stay with me for a long time and some did. Besides, I usually read so many books in short amount of time so it might be confusing what was in which book. But I also like to reread books sometimes. How many times did you read HP though? And last question about it, do you wait for the Hbo series?

I see, that's fine, I mean, being a good speaker or confident person is actually helpful in life. I was totally opposite of it, and now, I at least don't have social troubles like I used to have. And I'm glad you mentioned mbti, this is part of my interests too and you know what, I really like ENFPs :)
English isn't my first language too, not even second one. And I think your English is very good, but I'm aware that speaking in foreign language is the hardest thing... I can write and read in English freely and absolutely comfortably, but speaking is a bit harder. And I'm glad to be your learning partner, because I think I also still learn new words every text!

I see, well, reading One piece online is actually something very impressive, I'd say, congratulations on that! And I mostly read manga or manhwa online too, but not only, because my local library has some manga as well so I borrow sometimes but I usually got impatient and finish it online. And longest manga I read was Gantz with almost 400 chapters that I read fully online. As for books, I only read them in paper version. I used to buy a lot books, I don't want to mention how many of them I own, but since some time, I mostly use libraries. Ah, actually libraries is something I truly love and adore. I've been visiting libraries since my early childhood and I still visit the same ones. I like supporting them. And it's nice to see how they develop.
Well, maybe one day you'll come back to the library again. I remember I once had like a two years break from visiting library and when I did it again, it was an amazing feeling. ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )

I've been caught up with work but finally found time for myself. Hope you're doing well. About your writing reference what's the core atmosphere or theme you're aiming to capture in your dark mystery fantasy stories set in the Victorian era? Is it the contrast between elegance and darkness, or something else??
Arisu_02 Jan 18, 1:19 AM
I surely didn't expect to meet another potterhead here, it's not that frequent nowadays in general, but myself, I've been devoted potter head for almost 15 years. And my love for it doesn't weaken. I actually only know one person who likes both Anime and HP, but it's not surprising because I don't connect much with anime fans...Anyway, I'd say HP was first book series I read that changed me and first non typical kid book. It's also first book series I bought in paper and I only have one version of it, but I own all other around-HP books. I regret that I didn't mention it last time but I actually thought about you as a Slytherin, even without knowing you're Potterhead, to be honest. Yes, my smother quality is that I categorise people by Hogwart houses... Aaand I'm incredibly happy to meet my fellow house mate, because I'm Slytherin too and you weren't wrong about Ravenclaw in a way, I many times wondered if I'm really Slytherin or Ravenclaw, but I actually did original test once and it said Slytherin, besides, I always, always, felt connection with this house. Whenever I imagined myself at Higwart, I couldn't imagine myself not being Slytherin. That aside, but my favourite colour is green, I love snakes and my favourite Higwart sport would be dungeons. >ᴗ< I'm honestly so happy right now, for some people it probably sound stupid or meaningless but I immediately imagine us being in Skytherin common room...

Everything I recommended to you is as you say, not random, I thoughts about it to suggest you titles you could really enjoy. But I'm aware not everything I found interesting will be like that to others.
That's right, I actually remember what I was doing in life while reading some specific titles, or what I was eating then haha. I also have a list of all books I read since 2018, with every month of the year separately.
Metro 2033 was heavy in every meaning of tgis word, I'd confidently say. I felt the overwhelm, claustrophobia, fear , etc. I think it really an original dystopia because I first time came across a word when people only live underground.
Speaking of teenagers, it definitely sounded like it's something wrong with that, but there isn't, obviously. You might be a teenager yourself after all, so sorry for that. And even while being an adult I like reading books directed for youngsters.
As for Miss Peregrine(...),I didn't watch movie or movies, but I once got first volume as a gift and then I started collecting it and now I own the whole series and I just love how the books are made, because it's literally the only series with photos inside. Especially first three volumes are good. I would say it's more fantasy than horror though.

Yes, that's totally it, I prefer how I can think carefully while writing and even correct my texts, while it's impossible for speaking. Honestly I never was good at speaking, especially in public, but currently I think I don't mind it. I literally had to start doing it while my voice was nothing but trembling and quiet, but it got much better.
I'd say your messages are very nice too, pleasant to read and I like how inquisitive and observant you are.

No jokes, talking about books so much here is surprising to me too, but in a positive way. By the way, I wanted to ask, do you read manga online or buy it? And what about books, do you buy, borrow them, or maybe listen audiobooks?

Arisu_02 Jan 17, 7:54 AM
Looking at all these recommendations, it's indeed a lot, I didn't joke around and I believe it's not even everything I could suggest. Anyway, I hope when one day you'll feel like reading dystopia, it'll help you a bit. By the way, I forgot mention it in last text, but you said HP is special for you too. Well, congratulations, because you've just discovered one of the biggest and most devoted potterhead you could ever met. I don't think anime and HP fans are common, so it's good to meet one of my people :).
Oversharing, overwriting, overthinking, these are just few of my qualities. I don't know if I could really dominate anything so it's alright to hear!

Thanks you appreciate that and were able to notice that. I agree letters are sometimes very personal and intimate but I don't find them romantic until I want them to be like that, which rarely happens, obviously. But no matter the topic, I always give my best. And actually, writing has never been related to my job (otherwise I wouldn't like it that much), rather speaking, very much, but I still feel more comfortable with writing words.
You seem to be good with words as well, no surprising you were writing a lot as your work.

Metro 2023 is really good, I read it only last year, but I want to read it again actually. The thrilling atmosphere and darkness were very intense and I felt like I was underground myself while reading.
The Darkest Minds, I don't know if it's good for adults, because I read it as teenager (as almost all other books I mentioned), but I think it is actually, the thing is the characters are teenagers like in most book series. But I read the whole series few times and was stunned every time. I'd explain why I suggest all of these books more carefully but didn't want to make it that long, but I can say every of these books was special for me in some way, maybe because I really love dystopian worlds. I also would say science-fiction is one of my most liked and read genre of books.
I watched only few, very few fantasy anime but I see the scheme and I feel like most of them are almost identical which isn't encouraging to me. There are also not many good horror anime, but stil, my latest discovery, Higurashi is definitely one of the best title also when it comes to gore, but I still want a series with more intense gore.
If you still want recommendations, I wanted to share few other series, that aren't dystopia. There's a series S.T.A.G.S by M. A. Bennett, I realised it's actually perfect for you, yes, yes, and I loved it myself as well. Because it's mostly mystery with riddles! Apperently it has 5 volumes but I only read 3. Next one is Ninth house and Hell /ent by Leigh Bardugo which is mostly a dark academia horror/fantasy and also everything else by this author, especially Six of crows and its sequels. The plot takes place in a city based on Amsterdam and there's lots of action and some mysteries too, but I especially love characters.
Next is Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children series which includes 6 volumes and an extra boom. It's dark fantasy series with horror elements and what makes is unusual is that it contains photos, real, old, usually creepy photos. (˵ ¬ ᴗ ¬˵)
One of most nostalgic series to me is also
Ranger's Apprentice by John Flanagan, there are lots of volumes, it's advanture and action series.
I'd gladly reccomend anything by Cassandra Clare, whole Shadowhunters series and side series, there is a lot to read, it's mainly fantasy and action.
If I humbly could suggest one of my absolutely favourite books of all times, I'd be: Nightingale by Hannah Kristen (it's historical fiction novel, it's one of my fav genre too, and man, I can't explain what this book did to me), same goes for The Bookthief by Markus Zusak (also Historical fiction), To kill a Mockingbird, and also literally all books by Dostoyevsky and Osamu Dazai, Babel by Rebecca Kuang, A dog's journey by Bruce Cameron (it's a trilogy), Turtles all the way down by John Green, Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Montgomery, Dracula by Bram Stoker and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (it's actually much better than Dracula with my whole love for vampires, but this books was incredible, stunning and unbelievable). (⸝⸝> ᴗ•⸝⸝)
QueenHoneybumble Jan 16, 7:48 PM
Yeah I am! I'll put those on my list, thanks for the recommendation!
Arisu_02 Jan 16, 7:49 AM
I'm glad to hear that, because I usually write a lot, especially if I have a good interlocutor :). And getting excited and oversharing about things I like is my speciality or weakness, depending on others. I also rather meant, dominate other comments, I give my best but I still need to remember it's public and there are other people too.
Anyway, I'm in awe you complimented my writing style... For me, it's one of the best thing I can hear. Thank you, I indeed would say writing is kind of my interest or passion, in few ways, but I'm not a writer and didn't publish anything if you ask about it. Didn't publish, but wrote. And, being a bit mysterious, I have lots of experience in writing letters, so :) I'm glad you enjoy it.
Don't worry about it, it's not a competition how many titles we know or not. And I literally only have some knowledge about books, anime and nothing else probably. So it's not that impressive. It just makes me pleased someone can use my recommendations and think about them positively.
BSD itself is a real treat for me, as you might have guessed, mostly because of authors and books references. Because yeah, not only characters are based on real authors but their personalities and abilities are based on their books and sometimes a bit about these authors ' life's. Speaking of, if I could suggest something, I find Dazai's biography really intriguing. Besides, as I mentioned decadence, I often can relate to stories from that era. Oh and it's really great they didn't only create Japanese authors characters in BSD, it's just funny and nice to see them when you're a lifelong fan of these people.
Sherlock Holmes reference isn't frequent these days or actually ever, so I'm very observant when it comes to it. And I like caring about little, so-called, 'meaningless' details.

It's getting better and better, I feel quite comfortable and knowleable talking about fantasy and dystopia. It's also funny cause I'm not biggest fan of fantasy anime but fantasy books are one of my favourite haha. Same for, I don't really like horror books but love horror anime and movies.
Anyway, I'm sure I forgot about few titles but I prepared my list of dystopian books, not only series actually. It was also enjoyable making it because I started thinking of times when I was reading these books.
Except Hunger Games which is obviously one of the best.
☐ 1984, Animal farm and other George Orwell books if you can find any

☐ Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
☐ Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
☐ The Handmaid's tale, The Testament by Margaret Atwood
☐ Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card (it's actually a sci-fi series, it has 6 main books and also few others in the same universe, I didn't read all yet, but generally, it gives evangelion vibes a lot)
☐ The Maze Tuner by James Dashner (it has 3 main volumes and 2 prequels
☐ Delirium by Lauren Olivier, it's a book of my youth, including 3 main volumes and few extras I never read cause they're not available at my place
☐ Slaughterhouse five by Kurt Vonnegut, rather a classic
☐ Battle Royale by Koushun Takami, great for high stake games fans like me
☐ A clockwork orange by Anthony Burgess, a special title for me, love it
☐ The Host by Stephanie Meyer
☐ The long walk by Stephen King
☐ The Trial by Franz Kafka
☐ Utopia by Thomas More, a must
☐ Dune by Frank Herbert, it's rather for advanced readers, honestly not my style but worth recommending, it's a sci-fi series with 7 thick volumes
☐ The Darkest minds by Alexandera Bracken, my beloved and nostalgic series with 3 volumes and one prequel, sooo good
☐ The running man by Stephen King
☐ Island by Aldous Huxley
☐ The dog stars by Peter Heller, it's also a special title for me

☐ The three body problem by Lou Cixin, it's a trilogy, also for advanced readers, with looots of science
☐ When the sleeper wakes by H.G.Wells
☐ Klara and the sun by Kazuo Ishiguro, something similar to Detroit Become Human if you know the game
☐ U4 book series by Florence Hinckel
☐ Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth

It's entirely not dystopia but I wanted to recommend Red Abbey Chronicles by Maria Turtschaninoff. Also, as for fantasy series - The Poppy War by Rebecca Kuang (I'm a big fan of her, so everything else too) , The Lotus War by Jay Kristoff (and all his books too) , The Priory of the orange tree by Samantha Shannon.
I hope it isn't overwhelming, you can just save it incase you're bored one day or something. Enjoy (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)

QueenHoneybumble Jan 16, 4:30 AM
I love mystery! It's one of my favourite genres, it's just that I don't find a lot of shows or games that I end up enjoying. But yeah I totally agree, very good story and a lot of things done right :3
Arisu_02 Jan 16, 12:13 AM
Yes, I take recommendations very seriously when people ask me for that. Also, I prefer recommend things I'm familiar with and that they're worth suggesting. But I'm also aware not everything I liked will be liked by others and vice versa. I actually stopped myself from making the text even more longer, damn. And I got into mystery and detective books because I real all other genres from the libraries that interested me. But all these titles you mentioned, I know too, and like I said fantasy and dystopia are really my favourite, so all series like HP, Hunger Games, Percy Jackson (though I'm not biggest fan of Greek mythology), etc, are also to my taste and especially the first one is my biggest love. When it comes to dystopian series, I have soo much to recommend...
I actually didn't mention Agatha Christie, because even after reading many of her books, I never get to like them honestly, but they surely have great vibe and creative crimes.
Basically all characters from BSD are based on real authors. I could also highly recommend Dazai's novels, they're rather not mystery or something but they were written in decadence era and it's honestly also one of my favourite theme in literature. Akutagawa's and Atsushi's books were also great. And we also have non Japanese authors there like of course Dostoyevsky whose writing seems like taken from my very mind. And Gogol, Fitzgerald and Lovecraft are worth mentioning authors too, at least, these I'm familiar with. So, BSD is actually a nice source of authors. As for Ranpo, I really loved his crime stories, the general atmosphere and writing style is very to my taste. Same for Poe, I forgot to mention, I also have a very thick book that includess all stories of him.

Yes, I think Ciel was reading Sherlock Holmes and it was a satisfying reference.

I'm glad I provided you with some new authors and books you didn't know and hope you'll find it helpful.

As for chatting, I actually don't mind, but I'm afraid my text will dominate all the rest... (it's not even my full power of overwritng now). ^^

llHakull Jan 15, 8:07 PM
Oh, well, best of luck with it! :D
Arisu_02 Jan 15, 6:22 AM
I'll start with saying, I generally never was a big fan of decective or crime stories when it comes to books but I fell in love with Sherlock Holmes world at first sight, I guess mainly because when and where the plot takes place. Because I especially like Victorian London. Yes, I have three different version, one of them is a very thick books with literally all SH stories, it's twice bigger than regular book and they say it's only collection version but I read it anyway. I also have one version with all stories in different little books but in one packaging and last one version is just variously looking SH books.
I don't know if there are many anime fans that are also book fans, but before anime, I was a full-time bookworm and if you ask, I'm always willing to talk about both books and anime.
I took some time to think about what can I suggest to you, but I also have a question, are you fine with chatting here this way?
Anyway, if you're curious, here they are. I simply could recommend any book of these authors so it's easier to only mention authors now. I guess they are pretty well known but maybe you haven't heard of some and I assure you, all of their works have victorian vibe, more or less, some are also romance and some are more horror or mystery.
Emily Bronte, Charlotte Bronte, Oscar Wilde, Bram Stoker, Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy, George Elliot, Mary Shelley, Willie Collins (the woman in white, the moonstone), Anne perry, Elizabeth peters
Will Thomas (Barker and Llewelyn), Sherry Thomas (lady sherlock), Tasha Alexander (Lady Emily), Virginia Feito (Victorian psycho), Edgar Allan Poe (my personal fav) ,Edogawa Ranpo.
And also these books:
This House is Haunted by John Boyne
Oxford Book of Victorian Ghost Stories
Carmilla
The phantom of the opera
The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell
Deanna Raybourn’s Veronica Speedwell series
The Quincunx by Charles Palliser

I guess it's all for now, I hope you'll find something that catch your attention, let me know if you know any of them. I generally prefer recommending things when I know what you read or not but still.
If you want any other books recommendations except romance, it's also fine. I'm most familiar with fantasy, dystopia and true crime. ฅ ^>⩊<^ ฅ
QueenHoneybumble Jan 15, 4:25 AM
Yeah I know her well, I'm a huge fan of Danganronpa :D
I don't think it's as popular these days so maybe that's why it's more rare to see that, heh
QueenHoneybumble Jan 15, 3:50 AM
Maomao captured my heart pretty quickly, though I'm only halfway through season 1 hehe. But I'm a day 1 Charmy lover, she's my spirit animal~
As for you I see you're a fan of Kyouko Kirigiri, mad respect for that :D
It’s time to ditch the text file.
