Hey, so I'm going with reading the Berserk manga before I watch the 1997 show. I had been on the fence about getting into Berserk, and your rec got me thinking it's a good time to read it. So it could be a while before I really view the series, heh.

About that rec for you... First off, I'm really pleased to see our mean scores so closely placed. The entire point of my rating scale is to get an even point distribution resulting in a very near to flat 5 mean score. You seem to have achieved a similar distribution on your own, which I commend. Far too many people don't really consider the full 10 point range when scoring!

All that to say...I have recs for you that I've scored terribly low XD I noticed that your own scoring system qualifies its score whether the title should be viewed or skipped. My personal philosophy when viewing anime (or consuming any media) is that everything is worth viewing no matter how bad it is. Seeing crappy anime helps us compare to better ones and find what aspects matter to us. Only through comparison can we truly derive and infer quality.

So, I really have no idea what you'll rate these recs, if you even choose to view them! They are also on the obscure side, so I don't expect you to grab them right away.

Anyway, my first counter-recommendation for you is Aoki Honoo, the 1989 OVA.

I couldn't help but think of this during my viewing of School Days. And I probably wouldn't have liked School Days as much as I did had I not seen this first.
