Review scores are pretty arbitrary. I typically rate shows based on how well I think they succeed at what I believe they set out to do. I don't rate anything I haven't finished.

A rough rating system:

1 - 3 : A show that actually offended me to watch. Shows I'd go out of my way to recommend avoiding. Typically a mixture of QUALITY animation and a creatively bankrupt production.

4 - 5 : A show that fell flat but had passable pieces. 4s lost their way but 5s never really lost a chance for redemption.

6 - 7 : A show that eventually led me to have increased expectations but didn't fully deliver. Most shows that I consider tried really hard but had severe inconsistencies fall in this category.

8 - 9 : A show that I found masterfully compelling at times that more than made up for all it's flaws. Immediate recommendations for all general anime fans. Flaws are apparent but these shows are damn charismatic.

10 : A show that might normally be in the 8 - 9 range that touched me personally. Possibly had flaws but the message/animation/plot/sound all blew me away to the point that I didn't care to pretend about objectivity anymore.
