The thing about random seasonals and shows like this is, a random seasonal is like a bag of chips. It's not the best tasting thing, or the most healthy thing, or the most high quality thing, but it's chips, you kinda just eat it without thinking about it. That's why random seasonals are always a safer bet. but what doomed metallic rouge is a lot sadder.
This a lot less of a problem in older shows, but within the past decade or so, no one believes in anime originals enough to give them more than a single 12 episode season. There are a handful of exceptions like megalo box, but s1 of that was made assuming it will be only 1 season, so it was also wrapped up in 1. s2 was even better, but it's still true that they made s1 thinking they wouldn't get a second one.
So anime originals getting low episode counts is kind of the standard, and considering that, a story with this HUGE of a scale and large amounts of moving pieces and characters and plot points was never going to work. Akudama drive for example is not even half as large scale, but it still needed to be one of the most tightly written anime in recent years to flesh out it's world story and characters as well as it did. Same with odd taxi, and that one didn't even need to do that much world building since it took place in our world. (both are top tier shows btw, I suggest you check them out if they seem interesting, though if you did definitely watch the blu-ray for akudama drive, the tv one had abhorrent censorship for the violence and the blu-ray also has a extended final episode. Also, the dub for akudama drive is REALLY good, so if you are fine with dubs, I suggest watching it in English)
Metallic Rouge is closer to a solar scaled blade runner with a huge cast than legend of the galactic heroes, but I haven't seen neither of those so I am just speculating based on what I know about them lol
i don't know how old you are, but i think you're at that particular stage in life where you take someone disagreeing with you as a personal slight and let it raise your blood pressure to astronomical levels. i was prepared to give berserk a 7 before the supernatural stuff at the end — this is quite a popular opinion, actually. but would saying so even make you feel any better? considering you seem to be severely lacking in the theory of mind area
