So what do you think of the Japanese language and what do you love most about Rahxephon?
My big Virgo friend, a supertomboy, is a huge fan of that series and many things sci-fi.
I think that she should check out Tokyo Ghost, Transmetropolitan or Private Eye before she grows out of cyberpunk. None of those comics are cyberpunk in the traditional sense. They all break away from 80s cyberpunk conventions and themes. Like that high tech and low life stuff. They also lack ugly neon lights in the rain or background that my half-Asian friend grew out of.
A Swedish semitomboy that I haven't talked to in months probably grew out of cyberpunk because of that 80s aesthetic stuff.
Manga-wise, I would recommend Silent Möbius, but that requires good knowledge in Japanese, but the finale or chapter 12 is worth exploring. It doesn't follow the old cyberpunk formula either despite being about as old as I am.
Yes, I was born in the late 80s.
Speaking of blog, my sister-in-law and I recently realized that neither of us ever played an otome game, and I offhandedly claimed that all otome game adaptations seem to be bad. Since you looked into Arcana Familiglia - have you encountered something good/recommendable? After all, both of us like our share of bishounen (hello Ouran!) so there must be something out there, what do you think?
Are you enjoying Kimi ni Todoke?
Your tastes seem to be close to mine, I might take inspiration from your list. ;)
Basically, it's much better than I dared expect! I couldn't watch it in marathon mode or anything like that, but it's perfect as late night viewing. The whole idea of 'bar drinking' seems so... introspective. I rarely drink, but I like the idea of drinking something that tastes so perfect and savouring it, rather than the 'party culture' way of drink-until-you're-sick!
