Oh gratz on graduating from middle school and entering high school :D
@ "Woke up and got up at 5:45 am this morning"
Wow darn that sounds tough :(
Since my uni classes are in the afternoon this sem (1pm-4 or 2pm-5) I tend to sleep in till like 10am, lol XD
Some juniors in other faculties re-started our uni's Anime and Manga club so I went there last week and met some like-minded people, was great fun :D
Too bad I'll be graduating at the end of this semester :\
@"I'll be 16 at that time when I attend college"
Wait, in the place you live, you guys go to college at 16!? Or are you accelerating through a few years because of your grades? :3
Btw what are you planning on doing as a job later in life?
And thanks for the well-wishes; best of luck to you too~!
So sorry for the majorly late reply back :( Been so caught up with uni stuff that I saw the email notifcation of your reply, marked it as read and then forgot to get back to it OTL sowee~
But yeah Free is very good. I especially liked Ep4 with all the Rei failing brilliantly moments XD
Still kind of busy so I'll keep this short, but how have you been? Has school started again? Hope you are well.
Wow I got my SIII really recently as well! Maybe it was the start of this month. I previously had a Nokia A338 (?) some sort of smartphone-looking thing that wasnt actually a smartphone (lol) but had a nice Qwerty keypad that i found comfortably reminiscent of my computer keyboard lol and was way easier to type with for texting. The SIII is really stylish though, now I can watch anime and read manga on the bus to/from uni, yay!
Oh noes! So sorry to hear you broke your com, I don't know what I'd do if it happened for me, both for entertainment purposes and for school work, I like live on my computer ahhaha
Ao Haru Ride? No I've not heard of that one yet. I just looked it up on MAL, and wow I got to say all the mangas you rec are very well rated in the <100s!! If only I had enough to read them all!!!
Oh yeah just randomly, there's a currently airing anime this season called Genshiken Nidaime. It's about an otaku university club, and this is the 3rd season where the plot has shifted to the 2nd generation of main charas of the club which is currently girls-based. It's not romance but you might like it if you like otaku culture shows.
In Free! my favourite guy is probably Makoto, I find him exuding a very 'reliable' sort of feel. Nagisa is very adorable. And that ED with all the guys (save Rin, damn) crumping is so fabulous. Oh and don't you love how Haru shakes the water out of his hair, makes me squeel inside xD
Oh yeah you mentioned before you swim too aye? I used to swim quite a bit too in high school but then stopped and only do it like in summer. Watching Free! makes me feel like swimming again LOL.
"The manga continuation was even worse, even though they ended up together at the end, the main guy character was so stupid that he CHEATED on her" <---- oh gawd that is so rage-inducing....
Yeah the good thing about being busy with uni and stuff is time goes fast so MORE ANIME AND MANGA GETS RELEASED YAY (lol think positive!! :D)
But yeah actually, that's prob the reason why I watch so much of the current airing anime (even if a lot of them are terrible) so that I have new releases to look forward to :)
How long is your school break? Is this a break between year levels, since you still have a month to go? When I first wrote that first post to you, that was 2 weeks before my last exam, so my uni break between semesters is only 3-4 weeks (lol i say only but i guess a month is decent).
Well I wont not watch anime/read manga during uni time (except exams) but I bet half of the shows ive picked up now will hit the backburner... TT.TT
Do you literally stop all anime/manga when school starts? Btw, i have a question, you say freshman (9th grade) so is your 7th and 8th grade in a separate school from 9th-13th grade ? (which would be the same as where i live, New Zealand. We have Year7 and Year8 in "Intermediate school" but Im not sure if that name is universal). And do you call Year9+ "College" or "Highschool" ? And "University" or "College"? (lol the double use of college always gets me confused).
Oh wait i just re-read your post and you said Middle School - this is the 7th and 8th grade? Lol, bad habit of mine to type while reading haha.
Anyways I guess thats nuff procrastination from me, gotta get back to writing that presentation for next week TT.TT (presenting in 1st week of uni, i know rite!?)
Uni's starting up again soon so I've been busy getting data and preliminary info for my dissertation next sem so sorry for the late reply.
Wow the ending of Hero to Ouji sounds infuriating :\
Had a look at the MAL page of Nagareboshi and read your review too, thanks for the info.
Personally though I enjoy a bit of a love triangle (and maybe sometimes rectangles but no more) as when it's done well I find it throws a lot more spice into the character relationships and often is needed to push the MCs into confronting their own feelings. Then again ofc when MCs jump back and forth bet love interests that gets me raging. But when it's done well, I think alternative interests/past bfs/gfs can add a lot to the story.
I really liked Kaichou wa Maidsama too. I only watched the anime and wish they was more to see about Usui's older brother (and that ninja-butler lol).
Lol when i just copied and pasted "Orange Marmalade" onto Google it gave me images like this "http://localfoods.about.com/od/chutneysmarmalades/r/Orange-Marmalade.htm" LOL. I've never actually read manwha or webcomics before as I didn't really like their artstyle (guess I'm just so used to the japanese b&w style - in fact I don't really like the colorpages they sometimes put in to "attract" readers in the first couple of pages of new issues, I find the b&w more stylistic).
Yes I heard about Brothers Conflict too. I had a look at the premise but didn't interest me too much. On the other hand though I did watch the SWIMMING GUYS ANIME (Free!) and it's very good I think lol, not just manservice, the story seems decent. And the ED is pretty awesome.
Oh and wow cant believe you wrote all that on your phone! I find it so hard to type properly on my SIII so most (all) of the time i'm using my computer, haha.
But darn, uni's starting sooooo soon (next mon) so I'll be losing out on anime/manga time again soon.... T.T
See you later, and give Free! a try, I think you'll like it ;)
Ive been on break since Sun 30th but then went out with friends a number of times last week, didn't really get to any anime/manga.
Exams went great thanks very much! :)
The last few days I got back into anime and manga, currently watching an old one called Genshiken (it's about otakus doing otaku things at university/college lol) and playing the visual novel of Rewrite. Have you seen any of the anime adapted from Key (the studio) games? Like Air, Kanon, Clannad, Little Busters? They're all really touching and emotional ones. So I'm currently playing the game of their "latest" one. Though Rewrite is like 2010 I think. (just checked wikipedia: 2011). Really long though, just like all the other Key games. I last one I played from start to finish was Little Busters and that took like 40-50 hours of reading to finish!! Was really touching story though.
What are you watching/reading now? Or are you busy with school/uni/work ?
I had a skim of Rockin' Heaven, the main guy Ran looks really cute lol.
Koko ni Iru Yo! I havent started yet but im going to read it after tmrw's exam. I like the internet/blog aspect to it, adds a nice fuzzy feeling. And Suminon's hair is so moe.
I looked up Ouji to Hero and realised it's already finished in japan!? At 16 chapters :\ But the translation is up to 9? And i cant wait to see how swimming anime is lol
Oh randomly again, I was surfing MAL and remembered about the SWIMMING ANIME next season (Free!). It's all about hot guys swimming (with brilliant animation!) so i think you'll like it :)
Here's it's MAL http://myanimelist.net/anime/18507/Free!
Oh and just randomly, there's this one romance/life manga I read recently that I found REALLY REALLY good and left a huge impression on me (awesome characters) but Im not sure if it'll appeal to you as much as its a)heavily 2ch humour b)male oriented c)has a very dodgy name "Chikan Otoko" aka "Molester Man". Actually though the reason for the naming is coz its apparently based on a real story of a Japanese man that got mistaken as a molester one day, and the relationships that happened between him, the girl, and some of the girl's friends. Also about how he reaches out to people outside his room/internet. He apparently is a real person that wrote about the story on 2ch and then some doujin artist turned it into a manga. The manga art is really sketchy but it adds nicely to the atmosphere actually.
Not sure if you would like it, but if you do have time, please give it a try. I get remember if i wrote something like this to you, but this was the manga i read recently that after i finished, i wasnt able to sleep that night because i liked the characters so much that i felt really sad it was all over. Oh god, the feels again.. they're coming back... T.T
No worries about reply. What manga were you reading that got you so caught up? But yeah i know that feeling when you get into something good!
I totally know what you mean about the frustration of waiting for releases!!! In the last 2-3 years though ive gotten used to weekly shows, and that 1 week wait is almost "enjoyable" (??) now coz it gets me excited for the week to come lol. To that end though, I watch like 14 shows a season so I've still got something else to watch the next day as I wait out that long week ;)
But with manga, wow, it's so frustrating when they're monthly (or longer) releases!! And so many of them are monthly and the scanlations dont do them on such fixed schedules as anime subbers. Makes me sad.
Yeah sola confused me. When i found out the male MC was a paper doll i was like wut? O.o
Myself; Yourself, i agree, wish there was more shown after they got together before the End.
Kimi no Iru Machi is apparently really good i think. At least it WAS really good and then i think lots of fans raged at some of the parts of the story when the pairing that was popular with fans broke up.
Yeah I agree, i dont know how many awesome stories I wish were animated, but instead every season there's all these random crap ones instead (with usually intense production value too...)
And then they sequels and i just facepalm.
I cant exactly remember Chobits entirely, but I remember a fuzzy feeling.
I think there was a bit of ecchi like the main girl/robot sleeping naked (?) sometimes. But all in all it was a sweet story about love between man and robot. Ending was decent. Not like "wrapped up everything!" coz that would have to be the manga presumably, but it ended well and left me happy. The Opening song is really cute too
The way you refered to Shugo Chara as the one with the girl with 3 eggs makes me lol. I enjoyed the coming of age and finding the real you feeling from that show.
For ef, I liked the 2nd one more because we get the story of the mysterious priest guy and his love. And the OP of the last ep was epic intense with silhouettes of all the guys coming to free each of their girls, accompanied by the beautiful song by ELISA. Her songs are amazing, like soul-touching.
Yes Chobits was very nice too! But again alas the anime ending was weak since it stopped before the real end of the manga.
I LOVED H2O ~footprints in the sand~. That show was incredible. The emotions ran really high in that. Not just romantic stuff but also about relationships between people. I wholehearted recommend you watch that when you have time. Ending was brilliantly satisfying as well. I've seen some of the reviews on it on MAL but personally think the show deserves a lot higher.
Sola was good too but not like outstanding in my mind. It's worth a watch.
HAHAHA. Actually I was typing this as I was reading your comment, and then when I got up to the bit where you mentioned sola and H2O I just starting typing all this.
And now i see the next paragraph and you've actually seen them lol!! :D
AFAIK in sola Matsuri and main guy end up together sort of? Coz the main guy is already dead? He was like some weird paper doll thing made by his sister I think. And then the ending had something about the tomato juice can they liked to drink?? I cant remember but something that like shows up in my mind when I think about it.
And yeah I really liked Myself;Yourself as well. Except that timeskip at the end. I wanted to see more of the main charas together after overcoming everything but then it just kind of jumped 10 years (?) to end. The bit with the back story on the main guy with his attempted suicides was really intense and emotional though. And the side stories of Shuu and Shuri were interesting although I admitted was kind of shocked the directors DID get them together at the end, being siblings (twins?) and all. Not against it, but didn't expect they (directors) would go through with it even if they were just sidecharas.
But yeah, those two/three of sola, H2O, Myself;Yourself, those are the kinds I really like. Not intensely overly romance, but also alot of coming of age and inter-human relationships. Wonderful stuff. Preferably realistic too, I don't find the relationships in fantastical worlds as relatable.
For next season are you going to watch Kimi no Iru machi? That's the one only I know/can see that is romance. Although Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi is likely to be emotional nonromantically too.
OH and just noticed you watched Shugo Chara.
I got up to half way i think and it was really good.
But then I found out about the 3rd season and I heard it deviated hugely from the plot and that I kind of got discouraged and dropped it :(
And about Fruits Basket - without telling me exactly how it ended, did the anime "end" or do i need to read the manga?
Tnx again
Thanks for the info about Vampire Knight. Wow that ending sounds really disappointing.
Speaking of endings that left me hanging - although not actually, but anyways after watching one of my first anime DN Angel, I was so sad that it was all over that I couldn't sleep that night, i loved all the characters so much (and the ending was kind of rushed, although it did conclude. But yeah, that show left a huge impression on me even though it wasn't necessarily "amazing" per se.
Do you watch any of the current airing shows and/or plan to watch any from next season?
Oh and thanks for that manga list too, though I'll probably start on the ones you rec'd first, esp the anime because I find I enjoy anime medium more, even if the story is better told in manga. I really enjoy the OP and ED and voice acting, what about you?
And just randomly, a manga I picked up recently is "Horimiya" (http://myanimelist.net/manga.php?id=42451). The coupling is really cute, though the manga is pretty new so there's not too many chapters out yet (22 chpts).
KnT - great to know the anime is faithfully to the manga.
Koko ni Iru yo! - Yeah I plan to read this after my exams, should be good.
Ouran - I probably do need to watch this too since it's so famous.
Chihayafuru - I really enjoy coming-of-age and relationship (not necessarily romantic relationships) shows as well so I look forward to this one.
Vampire Knight - I might not watch this one, at least for a while, since I get really disappointed and hung up at the end of a series, especially if the ending doesn't feel like it really finished. I'm intrigued by what you mean by unofficial couple pairing though? You mean Yuki (i think that's her) does not get together with the main guy at the end of S2?
I really enjoyed KimiKiss. I dont usually rewatch shows but I rewatched the ending of KK yesterday and it was great. Also rewatched the intro with Maoneechan and Kazuki, lol. Though I also feel really sad for Yumi :(
