Yes, that really doesn't make Saki a more interesting character. It would be more accurate to say, I think that if she realized that she was wrong earlier, it would give her a more interesting role in the plot. The reader has already seen how Saki defending humans. It would be interesting to see how she changes, realizes that people do terrible things. And defending the queerats can cause conflicting feelings in her, because she herself is a part of humanity. In addition, in this case, she will have to negotiate with the queerats, in which she may also be mistaken. This will be more typical, but it makes sense.

In my opinion, the story being told from the "bad guys" Point of view makes it more unusual, but not more interesting. It is definitely good when the author allows readers to choose their view of the conflict and independently determine which of parties is right. But in Shinsekai Yori everything is unambiguous. There is no reason to be on the side of humans, except that they belong to the human race. They have no excuses for what they did. These are not interesting "bad guys", they have no ambiguous sides that could make the reader agree with there's. The only unusual thing is that humanity are the bad, and not the other creatures.

HnK was/is really underappreciated. Given how it's a classic one would assume there'd be a plethora of reviews for it. I was helluva stupefied when I realized I was about to write the first one ever for it.

The positive feedback is much appreciated. However, I do not see Bambino nor HnK on yer list, is it not fully updated?

Hello! Thanks for the feedback. Yes! I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that Hachiman's (Or any characters anime fans find cool) personality is something that people want to relate to instead of being relatable. I know this for a fact because when I was a kid, I always like to imagine myself in the shoes of a lot of characters I find cool in fantasy shows, haha.

Though I don't like Oregairu that much, I do understand why these types of shows go mainstream. As I said in the review, Hachiman was probably the reason.

Dialogue and monologuing are what I find to be the most intriguing in books and shows, but that is if the author knows what they're doing. Oregairu is a show/novel that offered nothing new sociologically or philosophically which does make it seem not only pseudo-intellectual but pretentious at the same time. So I 100% agree with you.

And I also agree with you that it is like other rom-coms. It has the basic formula for one, the cliches in the show, the setting. It just has more edge than most rom-coms which is no reason to differentiate the story as something different or a perfected execution of the genre.

I guess you could start with the first anime series then read the novel, then watch the new anime series - the new one adapts the most popular stories from the novel (voted by the readers) and also has a change in character design to be closer to the novel illustrations, which might make it seem weird if you just watch it straight after the older anime adaptation. Also the LN has plenty of stories that weren't adaptaed at all (the novel isn't written in a chronological order).

With Monogatari I'd suggest watching the anime and then pick up the novels after watching all of the anime - not only you'll get to see the story in a "rewatch" perspective, the novels and the anime are also a bit different experiences, as some things only work in anime while some only in written form (this is mostly for 4th wall breaks and similar stuff). There's also the manga which is yet another different experience and also definitely worth.

Thanks! I felt passionate about that review although many disagree with it as well. My girlfriend for example.

Oh yeah, most of it is definitely padding made just to sound like it has a meaning while not having any. Hachiman's voice actor is definitely MVP for delivering the lines so believably, otherwise it would be obvious how cringe the dialogues/monologues actually are.
