Yeah, it's definitely one of my absolute favourite designs in any anime or manga.
Oh cool! I'd love to hear what you think about it whenever you get around to it. I also forget how much it explains all of the newer game mechanics, so if that ends up confusing you at all I can definitely try and help explain them; I can still remembering it taking me a while to understand Pendulums myself.
I wrote about it a bit in my notes on my list if you want to check that out as well, but I think what I like most about it is how condensed, action-packed, and weird it is; like it's seven volumes as opposed to a hundred and fifty or so episodes and it's a totally original story too, so it's all very consistent and well put together as well as being probably one of the weirdest and most sci-fi Yu-Gi-Oh! series - like, the plot is absolutely insane. It's totally different to the original series though seeing as you mentioned that, that's the one I was never really into - I started with the card game and then GX myself, like I love how ridiculous the card game is these days and this is a pretty good display of that; pretty much every turn played is someone doing something major, and seeing as Arc-V was an anniversary series it has all of Fusions, Synchros, XYZs, and Arc-V's own Pendulums being used rather than focusing on one like pretty much every other series does, and it's really nice to see all the variety and them playing off of each other. I'm also totally the type of person to enjoy something because I really like a character's design, and the fact that I have Yuya as both my profile picture and forum avatar should say enough there.
I also got into it in the first place because I wanted one of the cards that came with it in case you were curious.
Oh that does look really nice, I'd also totally forgotten that it's a novel so they can just put more text on each page, so it's probably actually pretty reasonable but yeah it does look a little heavy for sure. I've only seen a few of ToAru's covers but they are really nice for sure yeah.
Ah yeah, good luck to both of us on that!
All twenty two in one volume? That sounds incredibly unwieldy, like I thought the all-in-one Death Note volume was bad.
Oh yeah, very behind - but I am planning to get the entire series and all the sequels and stuff read this year, so I'll catch up before too long.
Ah yeah they do seem rather rare in English at least, I have the Japanese volumes myself. There are some fancy hardcover editions in print in English but those are both really expensive and I'm honestly not a fan of the covers being really minimalistic either.
You said you'd read some of it, so do you have an idea of when you'd want to hear about it then? I mean there would be no real point if I'd read less or only a little bit more than you had.
Mmm, I can't think of anything in my favourites that I'd particularly recommend based on those three. And that's really nice to hear, I've been meaning to write some more but I usually either never start or never finish writing a new section. I think I should really re-read all of them and write about why I love all those fights so much for sure though.
High five! Trigun has some really great covers for sure, I've got them all and they're really nice.
Ah, I wish I could give you an answer but I must admit that I started it and then I've been so busy that I haven't really read much of it at all. If you would want me to I can definitely give you an answer later when I get to reading some more of it.
Btw 02/10 I didn’t forget 😌
I guess it's fine
