Yeah, the anime majorly toned things down compared to the novel, even with the lesbian lady because in the novel and manga, we get to see her get back together with her hot girlfriend. And then the anime also left out Tanimoto coming to the shop and having an interesting talk with Richard about not being able to fall in love and wondering if something was wrong with her. She leaves the shop finally at peace with herself and tells Seigi she can only be his friend. The anime tried to make her look like a legit love interest which made me more mad than all the Richard/Seigi stuff that was cut.
I think a second season isn’t likely but we are getting 6 drama cds, which will cover some of the stuff the anime skipped, including that case with Tanimoto. Hopefully, they have more freedom to tell the whole story in a drama CD
About your Jeweler Richard review, I just want to say that the story is still ongoing in the novel and I think those are hints are very much on purpose and not bait. The MCs still have more things they need to work through before they can be a couple. Also, there's already canon lesbians and an aromantic character in this story (plus a trans character in one of the side stories) so I have faith in this author.
