If you gender-flip the characters, you'll realize these two anime have a lot in common, from both having a set of four quirky main protagonists (complete with one who is secretly or not-so-secretly a fish-like alien in both), to the dazzling color palette and great animation with retro-rock vibe openings and endings, and 12-episode run. The points of divergence primarily stem from the genders of the protagonists and how that ends up impacting the story. Tsuritama is more focused on the core friend group while Rolling Girls gives importance to all the supporting characters that show up in every arc. There's a greater focus on the technicalities of fishing and everything else in the boy show and the girl show seems like it wings even its worldbuilding for dramatic and emotional coherence.
